Has anyone ever successfully received a refund from the TrainLine.com?

I have never ever had a refund from TheTrainline.con However before I was staff on the railways I did make the mistake of buying from these con merchants.
They sent me the ticket dated for the next weekend after!! I found out this on the train and was charged for another ticket on the same card.
Bank phoned me up the next day asking me if this was a duplicate transaction as it was the same amount for the same service in the same classification.
I explained what had happened and the person from the bank cancelled thetrainline.con transaction and credited it back to my card.
I returned the tickets to Thetrainline and told them a chargeback had been done and I wont be shopping with them again.
I got a cheque from them for the amount (3 months later), after having it charged back.

sounds like u dont deserve a refund... hence the trainline not bothering to reply to ur claim.
trains have always been 1st come first served UNLESS seats are booked. u quite clearly didnt pick an 'advance' ticket that is automatically a reserved seat (judging from the cost of the ticket).0 -
Hi All
Just spoke to consumerdirect representative regarding obtaining refunds from trainline.com.
Under the The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
the trainline.com must refund any online transactions PROVIDING you notify them in "durable" form within 7 DAYS of the transaction. This can be an email but they recommend you back this up with a letter - delivered registered post.
If they drag their heels then get back in touch consumer direct who will talk to trading standards.

Good luck with the Trainline refund, from what I've seen on this forum they're an awful company to deal with.0 -

The Distance Selling Regs do not apply to buying train tickets.
You really should not quote the law unless you know what you are talking about. Makes you look very silly.Gone ... or have I?0 -

I think you'll find, if you read pingu's post properly, that it was Consumer Direct who quoted the law.
Read his other post. He quotes it himself. Not me who can't read!
Doesn't surprise me that you are backing him up, as you have misquoted the DSR's on this same topic previously. As I said, makes you look very silly when you don't know what you are talking about.Gone ... or have I?0
