    So ... looked into this a little further and although when I hold down the 6 and press1 on the stereo it gives me a serial number of M080006 when I searched and re-searched the manual it is telling me my serial number is v030244. I understand that from reading earlier posts codes for V serial numbers can't be generated. Anyway on further scrutiny of the manual it is giving me a 4 digit code which I shall try in 20 minutes (have to wait 30 minutes after each failed attempt). I'll let you know if this number works ...

    Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me in getting an unlocking code for this bloody radio!! The joys of changing batteries eh?!
