I'm paying 5.6% on an offset, which I took out just before my mortgage dropped below 25K.

Found that many mortgages aren't available once you get under the 25K limit.

Took this one because the premium at the time was higher for offset mortgages than it is now and this was competetive. Also no charges, total flexibility, a healthy amount availble to draw on if I need it and it happened to be with the same bank as my regular account.

Could possibly have saved a few quid if I'd shopped around properly but there you go, will be fully offset SOON anyway :-)

One year into a five year fix of 4.39% with the Britannia. This rate only seemed to be available for a week or two last September.

We are planning on getting a better deal, but just so busy at the moment...

our last re-mortgage to a better rate took us no longer than 3 hours, even the valuer/surveyor only had a nosy through the windows, we didn't even know he'd been.Maybe add an hour on for searching MSE for a good mortgage deal.

    Dead simple, easy money.

Sit back and count the extra pennies:p

  • We have just signed up with Birmigham Midshires (part of Halifax group) and got ourselves a good deal.

2 year Tracker @ Bank of England base rate (wait for it!!!) (minus) -0.65%.

Giving us 4.1% at the moment.

    Requires under 90% LTV.

The big draw back was set up fee was 1% of amount borrowed. Added to mortgage or paid up front. We made a real killing on the sale of our house back in August so we decided to take the hit up front (adding to mortgage adds to the intrest you pay).

Borrowed £133,850 payment is £713 (Repayment)

Tied in for 2 years with penalties (but no overhang) - no worries with that. we dont plan on moving or remortgaging until 24 months is up.

    Deeds release fee £40.(Fixed)

Admin closure fee at end £250. (Fixed)

Deal is only available through Financial Advisors.

Overall a great result considering my Wife is self employed and only has 2 years accounts.

Whilst that is true, you could buy any flexible mortgage (i.e. which allows limitless overpayments) and borrow exactly £25,000, then repay any money you don't really need on the next day.
