We're completing on our first house at the beginning of next month (fingers crossed!) and our deal will be 5.8% fixed for 3 years but it is a near prime mortgage and we did have 8 defaults between us so I'm pretty happy with that. We can remortgage after the fixed period as there is only tie in for 3 years and we know we can definitely afford the repayments even if we stayed with them after that (providing the interest rates don't sky rocket!).
We may stay with them for a few months as once our fixed period is up, there will still be one default still on our credit report (it doesn't go until Jan 2010) so when the time comes, I shall go to a mortgage broker to see if we'd be better off waiting the 3 months to get a better mortgage deal with all the defaults gone or will it not make that much difference as it'll only be one.
Just finishing our DMP so this is really good for us, our first house, just waiting for everything to go pearshaped as the last 3 houses did that we tried to buy...0 -
