Only got my sim card on Monday! Not given it to anything online or anything...rather annoying.
I notice that James said they have to pay for every time someone replies...got some credit on my old phone...What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
hi there peeps just letting you know that i have just received the same message this time from this number
+447544022569
yet another one to add to the list i think!0 -
And we still don't know who this mysterious marketing company is. I don't see why they can't be named in the forum.0

Company reps need permission to post can I suggest you get that
MSE TEAM PERMISSION: CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS
Company representatives are actively encouraged to post on the forum to provide good customer service to MoneySavers. They should not be using the opportunity to tout for business. We need to know in order to legitimise it. Where permission has been given for a company/person to specifically post there will be a note from the MSE Team. If someone has posted claiming to have been given permission but this has not been followed by a MSE team note please report it to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

On Friday I recieved the following SMS from +447845005174
"Free Msg; Our records indicate you may be entitled to £3750 for the accident you had. To claim free reply with PI to this message. To opt out text STOP. Thanks"
Oddly I have not had any accidents recently ... there really should be a law that states that any business using a mobile number for marketing purposes must register that number with a preference database - at least then we could track most of them down.0 -
The law says that any unsolicited marketing text message is illegal. Complaints can be made through the Information Commissioners Office.0

Hello guys I'm in the same boat, getting at least one a day!
******************************
Text received from +447548052405
Wipe off your debts!:
Begin your application today and start to wipe off debt with a new Goverment Settlement Order, reply YES to find out more otherwise no
******************************
At first I replied 'no' and they just kept appearing so I tried replying 'STOP' to one of them but again this had no effect so don't bother.
I've only just started digging and found this thread - In some sick way I feel better now knowing other people are suffereing and it's not just me but I want to get back at them for stealing my data, I want them to pay because it's not fair and i'm very angry
After seeing the lengths you guys have gone to try and get these idiots closed down I though I'd try and do my bit - I haven't reported it to the official body as yet but I did email my story to Watch Dog and included a link to this thread. Just thought I'd try a different approach and see if we can get them named and shamed in public - if enough people report it they may feature it on the show - fingers crossed hey...0 -

I have just noticed that all Bankfair posts have been removed, I take it thanks to the above post, how short sighted.
James Upjohn of Bankfair answered all questions (and more) that were put to him regarding the texts that we had received, something that we don't often get on any forum yet MSE felt the need to censore his posts.
Mr Upjohn gave information by PM that would have placed him in a very awkward position with his marketing company if posted on this forum. Info that he could have easily kept secret but he was honest enough in his stand to protest his companies innocence. This gave me enough to forward a further compaint with additional info to the ICO that they would have to act on.
By removing Bankfair posts this thread has been spoilt. I am sorry MSE in my opinion you have let us down.0 -

There are other threads on here discussing receiving such messages.
