What about the ones who can't work?

Eh, then they can't work. Simple.

But you've already said you need to top up your DLA with money that you earn because the DLA isn't sufficient, so what you are saying is that only disabled people who can work should get the care they need.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

How have you come to that conclusion? Yes, I top up my DLA money with what I earn. If I wasn't working I'd be recieving ESA instead of earning it myself. As it is I recieve more for working than on ESA.

If you are disabled, unable to work and struggling to meet your care needs then I think a trip to Chester Zoo and the £15 extra that we are talking about here is the least of your priorities.

So why was DLA brought into the conversation? It has nothing to do with Chester Zoo.

Maybe you should read a dictionary and look up the word 'you', the sentence makes perfect sense without implying that you in particular are able bodied.
    Eh?? What are you reading?

This is what was said to ME as it was in reply to MY post.

"As a non disabled person, YOU can go by yourself."

It seems quite clear to me that that post is saying that I (that is me) is able bodied......that poster said I am able to go by myself.

I dont quite know what you thought I was referring to.........but it always does you better to actually read what is being said, rather than jump in to something half way through and end up looking stupid when you misinterpret something.

While we're being pedantic about our English, there is no carers element of DLA, there is a care element.
That is exactly what it is.....pedantic.

Maybe you need to stop and think about whether or not you are being "pedantic" with someone who is ill or disabled themselves?

Or is it you just take the pi$$ out of anyone on a personal level?

Either way, you must be proud of yourself. :rotfl:

On the original point, what Chester Zoo is doing is perfectly fine so long as they are prepared to provide the care a disabled person needs while they are in the Zoo, otherwise I would imagine there would be a strong case for discrimination. I presume they will also be charging guide dogs an entrance fee as well.
Oh, why should a guide dog by charged an admission fee?

Do they also take in the sights? Appreciate the animals from other countries?
Do the dogs also take turns in feeding the stingrays, having a ride on the merrygoround and enjoy a lunch on the deck of the cafe?

That is such a ridiculous argument.

A 4 year old child cannot go to the zoo alone.....it has to take its parent with it, its 'carer'....and that parent has to pay no matter what income they have.
So someone who is disabled who gets extra money because of it, I am sure can manage a £15 fee the same as a single mother on low income.

The 4 year old pays the child admission price - a disabled adult doesn't.

Just beause you can manage the extra £15, doesn't mean all disabled people can. And should a disabled person be penalised for being disabled, even more? Not all diabled people get DLA - but still have extra costs.

I think going back to school and getting an English GCSE would be a good idea, no 'you' doesn't have to refer to you in particular. In this instance it can also refer to the non disabled person who was being talked about in the third person. I have no idea whether the original comment was directed specifically at you, it's just a wild assumption to make when it quite easily may not have been.

Not really, both are doing a job assisting somebody with a disability.

I don't really know why income or DLA was brought into this debate, it's not relevant. Having children is a choice, having a disability isn't, if you choose to have a child then you have to take responsibility for it.
