Chester Zoo now charge for carers

As many people will tell you, DLA doesn't go that far.
High rate gives you a very nice sum each week.....£100 ish. With the best will in the world you would be hard pressed to convince anyone that you couldnt afford £15 once a year out of that.
Dont forget, some people get that money and still work full time too.
Why should they have a carers place for free?0 -

Neither does the money of people who work full time on minimum wage bringing up a family.
I'm grateful for what I get in terms of my DLA. It helps me enourmously and I'm thankful that there is financial support available to me. Do I have costs over and above what my DLA is, yes I do. But I actually work, so cover the rest of them myself.0 -

Who said I was able bodied?
Maybe you should read a dictionary and look up the word 'you', the sentence makes perfect sense without implying that you in particular are able bodied.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -

High rate gives you £71.40 per week - not £100-ish. I know people who basically give all their care money and more to SS just so they can get the care they need - therefore, no DLA for days out.
And as for affording £15 out of that once a year - some of us have to save up a lot of our money to buy equipment so we can do things that others take for granted. None of this equipment comes cheap.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You're lucky then - not all disabled people can work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I know what DLA is. I know that there is a carers element, which is the part I am talking about. What does that have to do with your unrelated comments? Are you all here?
While we're being pedantic about our English, there is no carers element of DLA, there is a care element.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -
On the original point, what Chester Zoo is doing is perfectly fine so long as they are prepared to provide the care a disabled person needs while they are in the Zoo, otherwise I would imagine there would be a strong case for discrimination. I presume they will also be charging guide dogs an entrance fee as well.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0

I know that, but there are a lot who would be able to if they would stop seeing disability as such a barrier.
Which isn't the group of people who were being asked about, what about the ones who can't work?I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0
