Ok I feel a little James Brown in me today - wow I feel goooood, woop woopI had such a hard time fighting the cravings off for a cigarette yesterday - anyone who has ever stopped smoking knows how hard it is, it seriously is almost painful! I have cut down over the last week to just 8 in total over 5 days. Yesterday was my 6th and hardest day but I promised myself if I could get through the day then I would allow myself a cigarette and cuppa before bed - well I never had the cigarette
By the time I went to bed I neither wanted one or needed it so rewarded myself with a facial instead
My tongue is returning to a healthy pink colour along with a rosier, fresher complexion in my face
I'm sorry - I know this isn't to do with flying but I am sooo pleased with myself
Ok off to sort some of the kitchen out now
Jen x
Well done:T:T:T:T0 -
Hya everyone,
Hugs to all who need them. Toots, rach and uropa do take things easy and take care. Lillme good luck with your assignment.
Well we are finding more and more floor here. Trying to be ruthless and get rid of all this clutter. Still too much stuff everywhere to get through level 1, but slowly getting closer.
Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines:)
Cheers
Sorry Jen, meant to mention FANTASTIC effort in giving up smoking. It will save you lots of money and make you healthier. Keep yourself busy to take your mind of them. You could always put the money away and then treat you and DH to a meal out or take-away together. x0 -
Thank you Craftyscholar

So no gardening.:(
Well done on the floor-finding!
lil-me - good luck for the assignment. I so admire your study achievements alongside all your other commitments.0 -
Toots - sadly the CSA is a one off sensible conversation, but hopefully it will eventually lead to sorting the big problem that ICE are supposed to be investigating.
Lil me/Mrs Chaos - he bought it as a joke - he was a great boss who objected to the main company forcing me and him to work very, very long hours
Crafty - I keep meaning to send you huge hugs about your roof problem. Such a boring but essential thing to have to find money for as well. I hope your neighbours appreciate how lucky they are to have a reasonable person like you?
uropa - good luck with the bed rest and everything
We have had so much rain in the last few weeks that most of the downstairs doors don't shut which is odd. The house is solid stone but not sure about the foundations and how well blocked off the unaccessible cellar is. We now understand why all the old doors had been cut so short.
Busy weekend - DH needs a car for his new job (car allowance) and his old company car should go this week. No idea if old company are going to pay as they should or if we will have to sue them for breach of contract so fairly stressed and no idea what money we do or don't have which makes it diffcult. The first two cars we wanted yesterday where sold whilst we were waiting, and we saw the third at 6pm as they were closing. Fingers crossed we are the first at 10.30am this morning or we have to go into Mudbath territory to get the next option. He is going to spend a lot of time in it so it is important that it is the right one and he has majorly compromised on what he wanted but still, boys and their toys .
I still have a washing mountain, and DS has suddenly started wetting the bed again so I am fighting against two loads of his stuff washed and dry every day before I even start on the main backlog.
I also have vast quantities of fruit ripening (plums, apples, pears) which is great (especially for the chickens who sit under the trees waiting for windfalls) but I need to get it processed and frozen before it goes off. After the financial worries of the last year I refuse to let it go to waste or the chickens :rotfl:.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
crafty - it was sunny here an hour ago too and is now just a bit grey!
I got up as was hungry and achy and thought i'd watch last night's casualty...but it wasn't on!:doh: gutted. So it's DIY Sos instead!
Today's plan is relaxing, lunch at the in laws at 3pm, before that I want to get some bits washed, including the net curtains...any advice on this? I don't want them to shrink but they do need washing...was thinking a gentle 30deg wash in the machine?Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
rach - i think i always washed my nets by hand...but it was a while ago!
taking DD2 into town to sort out last bits of stuff needed for 6th form - as all her mates have gone to Leeds fest today - she wasn't asked properly to go with them - I'll take her to the cinema again. She was upset at not being asked..until she saw the lineup.......and City screen in York is way more comfortable than a festival - and the loos are nicer!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Hello everyone
Hope all are well. After an exceptionally busy few weeks, I finally got some time off and what happens? I go down with a stinking rotten fluey cold. So I'm on enforced rest at the moment waiting for it all to come out. It's at the all in my head and my glands stage at the moment.
But, I should be able to post more now things are quietening down here.
The chickens are growing quite large now and are great fun. My friend's husband is coming round over this weekend to put up a fence and gate in the side yard for me to keep BB away from them - at the moment I've constructed a very Heath Robinson type affair!
Off to blow my nose...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Rach - re the nets, it depends on whether they're muslin or synthetic. I wash all mine (muslin) at 40 and they're fine. Mind you, I washed all OH's at 30 (when we were attempting to get rid of the cigarette smell from his new flat) and they were fine too. Luckily they also dry nice and quickly, so it doesn't matter if it isn't a perfect drying day
One load of laundry on. I really need to get my act together today, as I've been ill for most of the week and OH is with his kids till tomorrow evening (he's had them since Wednesday morning) so the house needs a serious blitz. As does the garden, as due to the rain Hex mentioned (and being completely flat out with work, flat hunting, family stuff etc), we haven't been out there for weeks.
I also have to make cupcakes to freeze, ready to decorate next Saturday for my cousin's wedding... and I think there is some more cooking on the list.
Better get some breakfast and get a move on!0 -
Thanks re the nets, I don't think I can be bothered to hand wash, pretty sure they are synthetic so I will try a 30 degree gentle wash, they are quite generous length and width wise so even if they run up a bit they will be ok. Might stick the washable wipes and nappy boosters in the washer first as want to get them done.
Haven't really moved from the sofa this am, no sign of DH yet, am tempted to go back to bed for an hour
soappie - nice to see you're around, sorry about the coldMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
