Congratulations on your mortgage free status !

I used to work for the Halifax, and that's exactly what'll happen.

Even though the Deeds aren't the valuable documents they once were, they are still nice to have. When I repaid my mortgage in 2011, they sent deeds by signed for post, so expect a knock on the door in about 3 weeks time!

Thanks GG, that's very reassuring, I was wondering about the deeds as I seem to remember something about having to keep them in a fire proof safe tho I might have made that up :rotfl:

OK, a week left of my time off so need to get my bahookie into gear, do a list and actually complete it!! I have a habit of writing lists and not finishing everything off, adding more jobs and getting discouraged and then I tend to 'lose' the first list and start a new one.

Have had a good week including lunch out on Wed and then a visit to a friends on Thurs, we sat by the sea with a flask and some cake and had a good blether and made plans...... Y'day lunch out with OH, we went to a local caf! that's been there for years and the portions were huge so didn't need tea - does that make it MS? Probably not :o.

Need to write a letter of protest this week to a certain Swedish store. I won't bore you with the details but everything that could go wrong did go wrong so mucho time wasting and inconvenience experienced which I'll regale them with! Started writing it last night and am on page 2 already. Have done a letter cancelling mortgage protection insurance as we don't need it now

I need to get the fence and the shed painted this week if possible. Already got 2 days out planned for the week so I need to be disciplined [not my strong point]. This morning took cat to get his boosters [£49 ] posted an Amazon sale and got some bread as we've run out - so not a NSD. OH is out at work so enjoying a bit of space at the mo.

    So list for week includes;

do a list of annual or infrequent spends so we can budget for them once OH leaves work things such as boiler service, car insurance, my hair cuts [not annual!] and pressie budget..
    paint fence & shed
    finish letter to Ike@
look at which ISA to open for savings
weed bit at side of house
order some gravel/stones to be delivered as some bits are looking patchy in front garden
put flat pack CofD together and stain it
    list more books on Amazon
try and break old fence panels into manageable size bits to take to dump
Cancel mortgage DD & 2 insurance DDs
Bring myself to check out the Fringe programme and book a day out in the big city for me and OH

phew that's just the things I can remember, I know there's more but maybe I'll do the list now I've written it here oh yes just remembered the oven needs cleaned :-(

Off to have some lunch in the garden

Felt v good not having to move money around to pay mortgage this month. Hali v slow to confirm in writing that its paid back - had to ring and remind them! Managed to forget to transfer money in to pay DDs though so we were about to go into overdraft but as I check everyday online was able to sort that.

Feel a bit weird about continuing diary as am now MF. I know am not a v regular poster but it does keep me focussed. Next step is to save for retirement and keep managing on my self employed money once OH leave work next month. I had a look on the savings board and it doesn't seem to have many diaries so not sure what to do.

When you go to post a reply there are 2 menu lines above the message box, with bold etc. Strikethrough is the far right on the bottom line, looking like this [STRIKE]S[/STRIKE]

I was hesitant about starting my diary, as I paid my mortgage off a couple of years ago, but there was no where else to do it. The pensions board and the savings board didn't feel quite right, and everybody here had the same mindset as me, so I took the plunge.

It's the best thing I could have done, everybody is so supportive, and I'm inspired by everybody's diaries.

I hope you carry on posting - if you go to your very first post, I think you can rename your diary, so you could call it something more appropriate for your new situation:)
