He's been applying for permanent jobs for a while & had some interviews but nothing doing yet. There's a problem with his registration which doesn't help & I think his age/salary scale has also been a hindrance :( He's just been offered a long-term temporary post though so that's a huge relief.

Has your OH got something to go to if he leaves his job?? It's scary giving up a permanent job, but sanity & health have to come first.

Wow!! Just been reading. Fantastic to see your mortgage fall....Wow!!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Hi Poppy, long term sounds good even if its still not permanent, at least it gives you something to plan around. Good luck in the job hunting though.

No OH doesn't have anything to go to so my wages will be 'it':eek:. He's been looking for other jobs but nothing has come up and to be honest I'd be very surprised if he got anything else - factors such as his age etc don't help. So, we've looked at outgoings once we are MF and it is doable if squeaky as long as things tick along with my self employment. I'm fairly optimistic re my work and I've always been able to get something even if its temporary so hope that's not me being foolishly optimistic as am no spring chicken myself!!! He will keep looking though am sure and maybe do some voluntary work to keep busy.

Forgot to say and I'll whisper this 'I bought a Christmas pressie on Saturday '

It was just the perfect thing for a hard to buy for bloke so snapped it up. Just hope I remember I've got it and where I put it. Don't usually do any such shopping until much nearer the time

    Shame on you :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Wow, Dolly Parton has a lovely peachy bum :D.

In other news OH handed in his notice almost 3 weeks ago :eek:. His lovely caring employer hasn't even acknowledged his resignation letter! He has to work 3 months notice but that'll soon pass with A/L due etc. He is pretty fed up as feels he was put in a position where he had no choice but to leave for the sake of keeping his sanity. Anyhoo we have had a think and might use some ISA money to pay off the mortgage completely around the time he leaves so at least its out of the way and he isn't festering about it.

We'll be managing on my self employment income which of course varies not only in amount but when in the month invoices end up being paid. The plan is to build up a buffer fund in case of glitches in payment so we can meet DDs and if its possible will also be doing a bit of saving if there is anything spare tho I think we'll take a wee while to settle into the new one income situation.

I've moved the mortgage money into the account ready for Tuesday. NSD today, Mr A shopping yesterday plus a few bits up the street. My birthday tomorrow but nothing planned as will be working........adventures await at Teapot Towers over the next wee while :rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good week all x

    Belated Happy Birthday, teapot

Shocking about your DH's employer's lack of acknowledgement about handing in his notice, they really are ignorant. Hope his notice period goes by quickly.

I think I mentioned that my DH did the deed a few months ago & there's definitely a feeling of  to begin with. Luckily he hasn't been out of work since he left his last job, only thing is he doesn't get paid for holidays so things are still a bit on the squeaky side. He is a lot happier now though.

I hope things work out in the teapot household :)

Thanks Poppy, had an ok birthday was working all day but didn't feel much like celebrating much anyway. Got some nice pressies though - am a lucky girl .

OH did finally get a letter re his resignation but had to call them as it had the wrong leaving date on it! Seems to be sorted now and that's a month of the three gone already .

Am definitely going to be looking into paying off rest of mortgage which is now about £3680ish - we might as well use up some savings and get rid of it completely.

I've read some things on other threads about needing to keep some of the mortgage unpaid - something to do with deeds I think but am not sure? Anyone got any advice or ideas on the situation in Scotland?

Am off tomorrow so OH needs a hair cut first then I'll hopefully get to see sis briefly as its her birthday v soon. Been some spectacular thunder and lightening storms here over the last few days so hope there are no more tomorrow - bit unsettling :o

Lovely weather today, makes a change after all the torrential rain and thunder but I think that's on the cards again for the weekend. Did OH's hair this morning and then put lots of washing out on the line.

Made some squash and carrot soup for lunch. I know its not really soup weather but squash has been in the cupboard for ages and carrots needed using up. Put in lots of herbs from the garden too - yum :D

Went out in the afternoon to meet sis and have a blether and catch up. Gave her the b'day pressie and she gave me some frozen rump steak for OH. Someone gave them loads of meat when they were away on hols. Its from a heilan' coo and apparently delish but OH will have to be the judge of that as I don't eat meat. Unfortunately it was all frozen in one lump so not sure how many bits there are until it defrosts. Wonder if I can cook some of it and refreeze it? Anyway that's his tea sorted for the next few days .

Off to bed now as think all that sun has made me tired.
