Can you give the ebay bashing a rest.
We're all aware what you think, and it's not as if your adding much posative to this discussion. The only person who is responsible for the final ebay price is the buyer. Say all you like about the sellers but the sellers don't set the price, the buyers do.
The fact is most people don't seem to be checking in local shops is nothing to do with the seller, and if the buyer is willing to pay over the odds it's his / her lookout. Even if they are in a local store people hit ebay first.
Please don't say it's really bad that parent have to pay extra as they've all been bought up to be put on ebay, as thats just b***. All the mum / dad has to do is say no, unfortunatly not many parents seem to want to do that these days.0 -

Why stop bashing ebaying profiteers? This is a bargain forum for consumers on a consumer champions website after all, not just somewhere for you to source your goods and then gloat about how much money you make by selling them on.
Most Ebayers cheat the tax system by not paying VAT or income tax on their transactions, which affects the rest of us poor gits. And as for the people who sell Argos reservation codes - well I ask you
I find incredibly annoying and depressing to see a bargain that is posted on this and other forums disappear within hours then only for the same goods to turn up on Ebay being offered for sale by these, er, people. It simply puts you off posting a bargain here or anywhere else.
I think that this type of behaviour should seen for what it is - thoroughly anti-MSE. And that goes for people trying to sell their gear on the forums as well.0 -
Well said cheapskate580

Why does everyone have to turn these discussions into an argument?
It seems there is a lot of jealousy out there. I personally will do what it takes in order to earn money and that includes long hours at work, including staying out overnight.
If people see an opportunity to make a bit of money, then good luck to them! I have been involved myself a couple of times whereby I have bought a few items from the advice of others here so I can make enough profit on the ones I sell to get mine for free.
What's going on here is just human nature and I just think the people that moan about it are just jealous or don't have the balls (Or money) to do it themselves!
Please remember, those of us that do get the odd bargain and sell on ebay do sometimes not make anything for our trouble and also some people have been mighty pleased they have got something from me (remember the roboraptors last year) because they haven't been able to find any, anywhere. They often come from afar and would never have visited the stores i have gone to for the items.
Also, sometimes there are mistakes listed on here that would be long gone by the time some people who bought from me would have seen them.
I have driven up to 300 miles in a round trip to pick up items to sell on ebay and I know that most of you ranting and raving people would be too damn lazy to do that!!!
I say, live and let live and leave the ebayers alone.
If you see a bargain here, you have the same opportunities as everyone else.
Good luck with the elmos (i have 5) but if they fail, it's been good fun and some of my mates kids will get an elmo for christmas!0 -
Well mrrgs1976, it's good to know that you’ll do anything to earn some money. Nice lack of conscience! I’m sure the Krays tried that defence but it didn’t work for them either.
I can’t believe that you think what you do is some kind of social service – you supply when other retailers cannot. The reason they cannot supply is because hoarders have bought more than they need and are selling on at a profit, for which most of them pay no tax. Usually, if people earn extra, tax is deducted at source so why should this be considered fair game?
The fact that you drive 300 odd miles to fill up on booty is neither here nor there. Smugglers cross the channel to get cheap booze and fags and then sell it for profit back here. That’s not right or legal either.
I’m truly amazed that people feel righteous about what they are doing and then get peeved when others point out how bad it actually is.0 -
Human nature? Try telling that to some kid in Africa dying from lack of a drink of water. In the meantime please don't lump the rest of humanity in with your own somewhat unhumane beliefs.mrrgs1976 wrote:What's going on here is just human nature and I just think the people that moan about it are just jealous or don't have the balls (Or money) to do it themselves!
Do you really think people are frightened to buy something from Argos and sell it on eBay? It's not lack of balls that stops them, it's a consideration for others. Can I help?0 -
Oh Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ... Now we are on to starving kids in Africa ... how tastefull!!! Lets get this back into Context ..0
