Human nature? Try telling that to some kid in Africa dying from lack of a drink of water. In the meantime please don't lump the rest of humanity in with your own somewhat unhumane beliefs.
Do you really think people are frightened to buy something from Argos and sell it on eBay? It's not lack of balls that stops them, it's a consideration for others.

Yeah because a african kid dying is the same as buying a few elmos! *this is a sarcastic comment* For gods sake people get real. I get so p***** off reading this tripe. Why cant everyone just agree to disagree. There are always going to be people making a profit from others loss. On the other hand there are going to be people whos own beliefs wont allow them to do so. Its called the world we live in and what goes on, on these boards does not hurt or kill anyone.

Just my opinion but I for one hope the people who have bought elmos (i have now sold mine luckily) make some profit and the ones who havnt manage to get them at reasonable prices.

    How noble of you.

Unfortunately, this is not just about a few Elmos. For example, look at the Scissor Sisters thread. Genuine fans will be hacked off to see the Ebayers.

“Oohh I’ve got my tickets and I’ve put them up for £200. Tempted to throw in a night at a Travelodge and call it a package.” !!!!!!?

Caveat emptor and all that but it’s not what MSE is about is it?

Consumer revenge is Martin’s motto – well I’m a consumer and I want my revenge  :D

I will however comment on the fact my friends workmate just asked him if he could buy my mates one and only elmo for £150! Jammy is what that is!

I think you somewhat missed the point there :)
I was merely objecting to the claim that it was "human nature" to seek financial gain at the expense of others.
That opinion has just as much right to be heard as yours.
    Can I help?

    I will have a word! ;):D
  • Dont start me on dying african kids. The BBC will soon be turning themselves over to the annual look how much money we can raise fest at the license payers expense. I will not ever give one penny to this lot of tripe (a stance which I have to explain over and over as I work in a school).

Am I strapped for cash as christmas is coming? YES, do I stop my monthly charity donations NO, Do I make a special christmas donation to the hospice YES, will I be standing out in the cold and the wind and the rain (if I'm unlucky with the weather) on rememberance Sunday YES. Am I hoping to make a few quid extra from the 2 Elmos' I bought in JL when I happened to see them on the shelf YES. Why does that make me a bad person. If someone is daft enough to pay over the odds to make their spoiled brat happy then thats their problem.

My son has asked for 2 main presents, second one is too expensive if he is having both, I have explained this to him and as he really wants the first one he is happy to compromise on the second one. He is 4 1/2 so reasoning is not always easy but he knows he will get nice presents and will be a very happy little boy. I will not ever go mad to get the "in toy" for xmas.
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j
