yeh i thought it might have been that. Only time will tell.
  • Dont start me on dying african kids. The BBC will soon be turning themselves over to the annual look how much money we can raise fest at the license payers expense. I will not ever give one penny to this lot of tripe (a stance which I have to explain over and over as I work in a school).

Am I strapped for cash as christmas is coming? YES, do I stop my monthly charity donations NO, Do I make a special christmas donation to the hospice YES, will I be standing out in the cold and the wind and the rain (if I'm unlucky with the weather) on rememberance Sunday YES. Am I hoping to make a few quid extra from the 2 Elmos' I bought in JL when I happened to see them on the shelf YES. Why does that make me a bad person. If someone is daft enough to pay over the odds to make their spoiled brat happy then thats their problem.

My son has asked for 2 main presents, second one is too expensive if he is having both, I have explained this to him and as he really wants the first one he is happy to compromise on the second one. He is 4 1/2 so reasoning is not always easy but he knows he will get nice presents and will be a very happy little boy. I will not ever go mad to get the "in toy" for xmas.

Jeez, can't help rising to the bait when provoked by the crass greed and the lack of morality shown by the Ebaying mafia.

I don’t know what being strapped for cash has to do with the issue - you can't be in any event! It’s about people using forums like these to source bargains to sell on and get a sneaky, untaxed profit; rather than to use the forums to secure a bargain simply for their own use.

    What a freakin’ world

(By the way, why do you all keep thanking each other for your posts? Do you get some kind of turn-on from it? I’ve even seen calls for people to hit the thanks button just to move their numbers along! What’s that all about !!!!!!?!)

  • Well mrrgs1976, it's good to know that you’ll do anything to earn some money. Nice lack of conscience! I’m sure the Krays tried that defence but it didn’t work for them either.

I can’t believe that you think what you do is some kind of social service – you supply when other retailers cannot. The reason they cannot supply is because hoarders have bought more than they need and are selling on at a profit, for which most of them pay no tax. Usually, if people earn extra, tax is deducted at source so why should this be considered fair game?

The fact that you drive 300 odd miles to fill up on booty is neither here nor there. Smugglers cross the channel to get cheap booze and fags and then sell it for profit back here. That’s not right or legal either.

I’m truly amazed that people feel righteous about what they are doing and then get peeved when others point out how bad it actually is.

The Krays??? Come on, has anyone killed anyone here? You guys need to settle down a little bit I think...

Starving children in Africa??? I mean, come on... were talking about buying a few bits and bobs to make a few quid!

Thank god for the smugglers coming across the channel is all I can say to that remark as the tax they charge in this country is crazy!!! I guess you are a non smoking, non drinking christian are you???

This is a dog eat dog world matey and until you learn that you will always be one step behind! However, at least you will feel you are a better person for it.

This is my last post on this thread (until i come back to boast about my earnings mid december ish) and therefore look forward to your comments but I really have decided to take one clever persons advice and will agree to disagree coz thats about as good as its gonna get!

Hmm interesting that you think I can't be strapped for cash. I do have money but as I'm moving its tight and I'm trying to save it to buy things for the new house, I am trying not to go mad at xmas cos its such a waste buying a load of crap for relatives that they don't really want.

As for using the forum to profit - surely thats just another way of SAVING money - making a profit and adding to your SAVINGS. These forums are not just for people with debt problems - there are plenty of people like me here too.

If nobody was ever willing to speculate then we would all be sad and debt ridden. Small businessess wouldn't exist and neither would a number of large ones!
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j

I just think the people that moan about it are just jealous or don't have the balls (Or money) to do it themselves!

    on the contrary...
i just don't think this is what the site is for... there are other sites specifically for bargain hunting with a view to making profits on ebay.
i thought this site was populated by a more considerate group of people who weren't selfish with their bargain finds.

you all know that some parents WILL pay over the odds at christmas, just to get their child what it really wants. so YOU are perpetuating the trend of overspending and debt in these families, like it or not.

Circuit.. just wanted to compliment on a comment well put.

I like others am hoping to benefit financially from simple economic theory of supply and demand as a means to help my financial situation and I feel no guilt in doing so. However from Circuits post I can now understand why this isn't a topic suitable for this forum.

In general as Elmo's are no longer a 'bargin'.... and there is no longer a grabbit. Perhaps this discussion should be moved to a more suitable forum area for the sake of everyones stress levels!

your posts are becoming more bizarre.

who made it illegal to sell things on ebay? you?

you're talking rubbish. you have to sell thousands of pounds worth of gear on ebay and make £8,500 of profit before you are oblidged to declare it.

I am sorry but your posts are simple scare mongering hog wash.
