Living room tidied and swept. DW on, WM on and my first batch of yoghurt is in the easiyo :j - have been reading the thread to see how to use it without buying the branded sachets.

Rough meal plan has been done and shopping list and me and DD are about to hit lidls and Mr A's to get what we need. I want to swap a couple of cupboards around if I have the energy when I get back - might try and rope DS1 in to help if he's at a loose end.

Morning All! have been to gym and collected Euros for next week, so am feeling virtuous! Flutterby, hope your WM is sorted quickly - it's so frustrating when that happens.
Re the weather - here, although the past fortnight has been unsettled, the previous six weeks had no rain to speak of and we have used the BBQ more this year than for the past two or three put together! So for us it's been a good summer by and large!
Am so pleased, when I collected DS yesterday for a couple of days he told me that a couple of his old friends have decided that they'll look after him between themselves after his op next week, so he won't be on his own. I now feel a lot happier. He has managed to stay off the alcohol for nearly two weeks, so that too is something to be thankful for. I think he has actually realised that even one dring is like poison to him now. Fingers and toes firmly crossed that this state of affairs continues.
Need to get some more washing done today and a bit of sewing I think. HM soup for lunch and roast beef this evening. (DH forgot we are not only going away on Tuesday but are out tomorrow at a lunchtime big party tomorrow and went ahead and bought the meat yesterday!) Oh well, I'm sure we'll all enjoy it tonight and will be able to use up the leftovers on Monday.
Hester, many thanks for the recips for smoked mackerel pate - I really like that!
Hope you all have a great Saturday. Take care.

I've merged the two daily threads together to save confusion. I'll do some more tidying on the board and come back in later !

  • Well the men have been and taken away my WM, and my hob . I should get them both back by mid week but I wasn't expecting them to take the hob today! I thought they were just going to check it was broken and organise replacement. I still have the oven and a microwave so I won't starve :rotfl: Luckily I have batched cooked quite a bit this week so have lots of meals in freezer.

I'm going to see if my friend who lives in the flats next door is home and ask if I can use her WM for the stuff that I attempted washing this morning as it's soaking wet and smelly! If not it will have to wait til tomorrow.

I'm not meeting the girls for lucnh now cos it's too late :(. Going to pop to home Bargains as I need some cards and to the post office. Then I'm going to have a sort out of stuff to Ebay I think.

  • Hey all :)

Relatively lazy day today, although I'll be cooking dinner for the parents later - they invite me home for the weekend, then ask if I'll cook, cheeky pair! Ah well, I won't complain, I'm only cooking because they're off to sort something out at my aunties, and then, mum thinks her old bread maker is in the loft, so with any luck I'll be going home with a free bread maker - makes dinner a good swap if you ask me! She thinks there's a pair of old kitchen scales here somewhere too, so fingers crossed, that'll be one less thing I need to buy next month.

Going to price up car insurance this afternoon, that should keep me out of mischief for a while...

    Lucy :)

    Hello all,
Not sure if I've got enough time to catch up on the week, so hope everyone is well.
We've been on holiday for the last week and had no mobile or internet connections - very strange. DD1, DSIL, DD2 and I all have mobiles with different providers but no signal between us! The only blackberries around were of the bush variety.
Wm been on twice, and one load dried. Next one needs to go out but it looks very grey.
Just picked an enormous basket of runner beans. Going visiting tomorrow so will take loads to give away.
Need to go and prepare veg. for dinner (runner beans no less!)
    Cheers to all

Afternoon all..............................((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

I had my lie in this morning and then decided we needed carrot cake and I wanted to make pasties with some mince I had left over during the week. They are for supper tonight.

OH out in the garden, has not had a dizzy since Tuesday!! Fingers crossed.

It was a fine but windy morning, shame I had no washing, but did nor feel like stripping the bed......will do it tomorrow. The strong wind yesterday decimated one of my pots, I have done my best to recify the damage, but it still looks a bit of a mess. We will not be planting so many containers next year but using them to grow salad crops in.......
I will plant up the big wodden ones that DS2 built for me, they make the entrance to the house look very nice. Thimgs are starting to die back, the lilies in the house are dropping, but the sweet peas are still going strong.

Right off to do some sewing......cheers.............
I have had a go at the sewing room, two of the orchids are in flower, they seem to like it there, si I have moved another one in to join them. I am hoping to do a bit at my double wedding ring quilt this afternoon. I am a bot cross, I ordered a non stick mat for ironing when using iron on vilene, it came this morning, realised its the same stuff I sue ion the bottom of the oven and I have a roll of it in the kitchen, £7 down the pan gggggrrrrrrr.....

    Hi all.

Just doing a spot of catching up with the household finance spreadsheet, and thought I'd nip on here while the netbook is switched on.;)
Got shopping to do today, may try a real butchers as we are now eating meat again but not sure if I can manage - the smell of raw meat still turns my stomach!
    You're a braver lady than I. I could no more enter a butcher's or a fishmonger's than fly to the moon._pale_

We saw some ripe blackberries when we took Pip & Pandora for their walk, so Mr LW nipped back to the bungalow for a tub. By the time he returned, Pip had had enough and wanted to go home, so I ended up taking the doglets back while Mr LW stayed and got the blackberries.:rotfl:There weren't a lot, but it's a start.:)

    I hope everyone's having a good weekend.:o

Annoying, but handy to know for the future... I guess it's like the very thick, shiny plastic/paper stuff for on baking trays etc?

    hi all

a rather tired and grumpy me here today! (as usual :rotfl:)

went on a hunt for wellies for the little one today. me and hubby couldnt agree on where to get them... he wanted to go to clarks as thats where all his shoes have come from. i didnt see the point as he would probably only get a few wears out of them before needing a bigger size! he is having yet another growth spurt at them moment! i dont mind spending out for his shoes as he wears them all of the time so gets full use out of them... in the end we got a good pair from sainsbury's for £3! hubby agreed that they werent 'cheap' feeling and £3 was a bargin!

took him for a walk to 'test' them out but unfornately there werent any puddles! not even any muddy bits! still tired both of them out and they are sleeping now! :rotfl: the little one also seems to have developed my fear of bridges :o he wouldnt walk across the little foot bridge and had to be carried across (by hubby!!) :rotfl:
