Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 21st August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

¡Hola!

Up early as we are setting off on the trip back today, have a long drive today and like to get some miles in before the sun gets hot - some hope with the forecast, looks like it is going to be warmer in the Pyrenees in France tonight than here. DH not had a great night, so giving him an extra half hours kip (I can snooze while he is driving, and vice versa), just done the sandwiches using up what was left in the fridge, and/or freezing or packing the rest.

Managed to get Campanile at reduced rates by booking early and will be at Saint Paul les Dax tonight, but probably around 7pm ish. (hence the extra half hour for DH).

(((hugs))) to all - Take care - DG

    Good Morning.

Im awake and full of thoughts as I have been all week. My meds are sending me the other way so have been quite manic for the past few days - difficult when you are stuck in a body that resembles a weeble who wobbles for the majority of the time.

Anyway because I have been supercharged I have gotten a lot organised. The kids for school, winter clothes and shoes etc. I have been in a sorting frenzy and drawers that have not seen the light of day have been ruthlessly cleared. I hope i dont regret throwing or recycling so much stuff but its done now. The washer has been whirring and the house is tidy so all is well. I have been doing some cooking (with supervision!) as Im a bit of a danger in the kitchen so the kids been eating properly.

Hope everyone has a good day. Hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning. I could copy and paste yesterdays post as its foggy wet and windy here again. NO change at all.

Picked kids up from camp and they were buzzing having had a great week.

Work today, but I hope there is a chance of getting some breakfast before hand. Nothing much else to report

    Cheers

    Morning all

There appears to be 2 threads this morning, can someone in the know please merge them?

I have no idea why I am awake so early on a Saturday morning :( I'm going back to bed to read for awhile before I do much more.

It's grey here but not yet raining. Looks a bit bright so have risked putting the WM on. It needs to go on regardless as I have 2 loads waiting so will have to hope for no rain or find the instruction manual for TD.

I'm meeting girls for lunch today. We are planning trip to London in Oct but are having troubles booking train tickets as the train companies website keeps crashing, so we are going to station to book them in person. I need to look for present for my Dad as it's his birthday mid week. He is the worst person to buy for; says he wants nothing (which I believe), does not like chocolate/sports etc so he is a pain!

Oooh Masterchef was good, I won't post who won incase anyone is catching up with it today. But it was a deserved win in my opinion. X Factor starts tonight too.

OS wise - apart from Wm and possibly TD, not much else as flat is spotless, food shopping done and recycling done! :)

    Have a great Saturday all

    Good morning all!

    Donny-Gal - have a safe trip back.

N9eav - hope it stops raining soon.

Well, I won't say what the weather is like here!

I have to go food shopping this morning, then we have friends calling round, and then we have a barbecue later.

Yesterday, we discovered that the dealer had ordered the wrong part that we need for the car. DH hasn't had the time to fit it since we bought it last week but, when he tried yesterday we realised that it was wrong, so on Monday we'll have to go back and get our money back. After phoning around, we found that the part is half the price in the UK, so we'll get it when we come back next month. Luckily, the old part still has a few miles left in it. By the time we've taken it back, we'll have made three 40 minute trips and wasted time and petrol.

Still, we'll forget about it until Monday. I've got the WM and the BM on. Lunch will probably be soup, and, because we are going to the barbecue later, I don't have to think about dinner, which makes a nice change. The friends who are having the barbecue have just bought their first six chickens, so I can't wait to see them - depending on how well they do will make us decide on whether or not to get some of our own.

Well, I'd better get on with my shopping list.

Hope you all have a good day.

  • Thanks to donny-gal for starting today's thread. Hope the travelling goes well for you today.

It's grey and cold in Glasgow today - what else is new? I'm still under the weather and could see this lurgy far enough! However. There's nothing to do but get on with it. It must be getting colder at night as I woke in the night with Sammy snuggled up in my arms. He tends not to do that in summer. Oh, I feel so used! ;p

Today involves more resting (so books and knitting are on the menu) and a quick walk round the house doing what cannot be left for a couple of days till I'm feeling better.

Hope everyone has a good, MSE day.

Woke up early so made a pot of tea and took laptop upstairs- bliss!!!

We asked for a visit to measure up in the new house saying we could go anytime it suits vendor- EA quite shocked by people being so reasonable - but no reply yet so can't do that much.

DH still packing stuff in boxes which is sweet, but he does not leave anything in kitchen cupboard to cook with. I have to go and ask him where the flour etc is!

Monthly sale is on this morning of catalogue ladies clothes- mainly "classic" stuff but at a fiver for a bag of new stuff with tags still on it is worth a rummage. Saw some quite nice jumpers and cardigans in the window so will need to get there early and sharpen my elbows;) If it is going to be a cold winter then having a couple of extra jumpers or cardigans will be useful.

Still have half a homity pie and asparagus quiche in the fridge from yesterday and want to bake a courgette flan and quiche lorraine later this morning.

DD(21) in London for weekend and other two dds are still asleep so it nice and quiet. DH is downstairs listening to news and probably trying to pack a bit more while I am out of the way.

How did the shower cleaning idea work?

Overcast here today, rain forecast but it's not here yet.
Washing is over the maiden, DW emptied, fish fed, hubby fed, no real plans for today apart from getting a chicken & a piece of gammon out of the freezer for next weeks meals. Today for lunch hubby will have burger in a bun & I'll have HM mackerel pate on toast, tea will be chow mein.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

p.s. Mackerel pate recipe, Smoked mackerel fillets mashed to a pulp & mixed with philly style cheese, approx 50/50 mix, season to taste.

    Morning All

Sunshine blazing through the kitchen window here this morning...I'm sure it won't last!

My house is a tip! I've taken extra painkillers so just waiting for them to kick in and then I'll make a start. Also need to tweek meal plan and do shopping list which i've still not done! Enjoyed dinner last night...the meat from the butchers inside Mr A is lovely - much better quality that their own but pricer as you'd expect so getting it when its reduced evens out. Was very impressed by the sausages (very little fat in them) how sad is my life that I am impressed by a sausage :rotfl:

Anyway today we will have something for lunch and something else for dinner :D DH is at work so I have a MS this evening to order a pizza so he'll have that...saves me cooking at 9pm.

Best put the kettle on - I have a feeling I will need the caffeine today - I'm suprised I slept at all last night after the massive sugar overload I had :D
