i keep getting corrupt file from french download, anyone else getting this problem?

I had the same problem, but after installing the latest version of the Manager, it let me download this to iTunes, but not Audible. Strange!

Finally downloaded all seven books and iTunes says I have 1.6 days of listening - yipee! :j
  • Thanks very much everyone - these are great!

That's good to hear that they can stay in your library as of yet I can't get to download any of them but have managed to get all into 'My Library' on Audible.co.uk
I want to download to PC and then hopefully rip to CD and reformat to MP3 (someone above said that could be done),as frustratingly none of their device compatibility fits with my phone or MP3 or sat nav!, but once in Mp3 format I can play it on either.
So far I have done as it asks and downloaded and run set up for Audible manager and itunes, but it still just jamms when trying to download and the audible pop-up window says downloading 0%... and just stays like it.

The Audible Device Centre gives you information about downloading to different devices, so couldn't you download in MP3 format (not using the iTunes downloader) ?

Thanks to everyone for the links :T
  • Hey,
    Audible don't dnld to mp3.

  • Mulligan, I realised too that they don't do mp3 download too after going through the whole process up to the point of downloading.

I've emailed them because I'm running Linux (Ubuntu) and to download the file, you seem to need to install some software they provide which will only work on machines running Windows

Considering how many people are making the switch-over to Linux, it's amazing that Audible have decided that it's worth excluding such a huge customer base by making users jump through all these ridiculous hoops that wouldn't stop anyone who was actually intent on illegally sharing their files. If they do get back to me with a way to download when running Linux, will post back on here.
  • You could always run WINE on linux and then run goldwave to convert them to mp3.
  • Now i've downloaded my first book,I would like to burn it to CD,thereby making an MP3 CD for a partially sighted relative of mine to listen to in bed on their CD player. However the files are .aa (digitally rights managed and dedicated to Audible and cant be burnt straight to disc).
I don't imagine everybody wants to sit at their computers for hours listening to these books on itunes or media player. So does anyone know if there is a way I can overcome this problem without spending money on extra drm removal software?
    Many thanks for any advice.
    Neil.
  • I've had no problems downloading them with firefox.

But apparently audible is not campatible with Sony MP3 players as Sony won't support aa format. Hopefully it will work the long way round.
