easyJet or Ryanair

Good tip thanks. They fly from Leeds to Barcelona which is quite handy. Unfortunately their sale flight only seems to be one way and is quite expensive coming back. But will bear them in mind for the future as they're another convenient option. Cheers.0

trippy wrote:Should have mentioned that we're being picked up from either airport so don't need to take that cost into consideration. Flight times with Ryanair are more convenient and can fly from Blackpool which is a bit closer than Liverpool. Unfortunately it looks like Ryanair has the edge.
Can't see anywhere to pre-book the checked baggage on-line and therefore get it for £3.50. Wondered if we could get away with hand luggage. Possibly not with 2 little ones - aged 5 & 2. But could probably get it all in one bag weighing less than 15kg.
Its at booking stage, you specify how many bags per person. Also UNCHECK the insurance box, as this is automatically added (EASYJET do this too!)
I really cant understand why there is this hatred of ryanair and love of easyjet.
Ryanair are more often cheaper.
Unlike easyjet, most of their flights actually fly and are on time. Just check the stats
A family of 4 can have 10KG each of hand luggage as long as its suitably sized, an extra £7 each return gives you another 20 KILO.EACH
I recently flew with GLOBESPAN.
Your hand luggage is included in your 20KG allowance. Quite a few folk got caught with that one !0 -
fly back with a different airline, may work out better even if you have a train/bus triptrippy wrote:Unfortunately their sale flight only seems to be one way and is quite expensive coming back.0 -

I fly regularly with easyJet, and recently flew with Ryanair for the first time. I understand why there is a hatred of Ryanair and love of easyJet. Yes, they may be cheaper, but they are much less professional. Their service isn't as good as that of easyJet, nowhere near as good.
Plus, you're bombarded with advertising as soon as you get on a Ryanair flight, which continues until you get off.
Don't know if it's worth a £50 difference, but if you have the money, fly with easyJet.
PS. easyJet looks really unprofessional compared to FlyBe!0 -
Even just taking the airports they fly to into account, I'd use easyjet every time. I can't be bothered with the constant "would you be interested in this" which seems to be for everything with ryanair, where on easyjet it's just a drink or snack, then I can sit and wait for the rest of the flight to be over in relative peace.
Definitely worth the extra money. On the other hand, I recently booked a flight to London and BA was a shade cheaper than easyjet! Having had an excellent experience with BA on my first flight with them to Finland over the summer, I'm more than happy to choose them again.0 -
Well, I have never experienced that commercial harassment while flying with ryanair. And I am sorry to say that my last experience with BA was awful. I am used to them giving a really good service and this was a nasty shock. Put me off from using them again.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0

Go with SleasyJet - my other half and I went to Barcelona a few weeks ago (flying from Gatwick). It was perfect.
Ryanair do not fly to BCN, they dump you in a random airport miles from anywhere and it will cost a fortune to get into Barcelona (quote and unquote my next door neighbour!)April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
DrFluffy, that is just not true. As I explained before, ryanair leave you in Girona airport, which is not a random airport, whatever your definition of random may be. And it does not cost a fortune at all to take a coach to Barcelona from Girona. Any short trip by train, bus or coach within England is an extorsion in comparison.
If those are the words of your neighbour, be aware that it does not pay to talk about what you have not experienced yourself.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
Well I have experienced SleasyJet, and they are really, really good - we got into Barcelona 15 mins early (we pushed off 10 mins early as everyone was on board on timE). Same experience on the way back - landed early thanks to good weather.
I've lost count of the number of times I've flown with them, and can not fault them at all. I have flown Ryanair before, and I know you get what you pay for, but on both trips the experience was shocking. The first time they decided they didn't have time to load luggage, so didn't! The second time we were delayed by 5 hours outbound and 2 returning...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
NOW I am listening.
I have been lucky so far with both ryanair and easyjet.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0
