Thanks for your reply. I called DA as no one got back to me and basically told them I would not be responsible for the car and it would be better they take it as they know from my postcode crime is very high here. I was first told the car was booked into be collected tomorrow, then I spoke to a manager who said the car would be picked up withi 3 hours. Fingers crossed it will be. As for the third party insurance, I have tried calling them for hours but its coming up with an engaged dial tone, strange as its an 0844 number. I have searched the net for an alternative number but can't seem to find one. The company is called Chartis so I think I will give Tesco another call to see if they can find another number.

The car has just been collected, I am so relieved and happy, he showed me his hand held computer and showed me the bit regarding the state of the car, which said none. So hopefully that will be the end of them. I think there is a problem with orange network as calls I am trying to make say network busy, MSE is also having problems.

Thanks Quentin, Tesco just called me and put me straight through to them, so I think it is my network playing up. I spoke to the insurance company and basically he said they would not pay DA for the hire of the car I had as the car was not like for like. Does this mean Drive Assist will try and charge me for the full day the car sat on my drive?

He then said that he would need to speak to the handler and then let me know if I can be given a hire car, which would be through enterprise.

Third party have agreed to get me a hire car, he said it would be like for like, thank god. So I can smile and not stress for a while now, hopefully no more making phone calls and no more moaning. :)

DA know they cannot get an insurer to pay for a roller if the car off the road is a mini, so maybe they will be invoicing for the cost of a like for like car. Just cross that bridge if/when you get to it, though keep notes of your dealings with DA just in case you need to dispute anything with them later.

Thank you Quentin, I will keep notes of everything. Enterprise will be delivering a car tomorrow so at least I will be ok for the time being now, I do have to pay a deposit of £50 which he said will be refunded as long as I got no fines, tickets ect. Hopefully I wil hear from the Tesco engineer tomorrow to find out what's happening with my car, providing their systems up and running.

just make sure the enterprise car has no excess or pay the CDW and add it to the bill
  • Hi

I work in a bodyshop and all estimates and images of damage are sent via a computerised estimating system. The most popular system has been out of action for the last 2 days, the company can't even confirm when it's going to be working again.

The system they refer to is a program loaded onto the PC so the rest of the PC is working email etc, just not the estimating software.

Im not sure what you mean, sorry. They will be delivering the car soon. All I was told is that I would have to pay a £50 deposit in case I get any tickets or fines but he said the deposit is fully refundable.

Thanks for the info. I was told by Tesco that its very rare that this has happened as when it has been down, it is usually resolved quite quickly, however this time the problem is serious which is why its been down since MOnday. Hopefully it will be up and running today.
