Hi There,
Just wanted to ask a quick question if anyones about. My car still hasn't been repaired. I called Tesco, who contacted the other drivers insurance company and the guy from tesco said the driver had yet to accept liability. But he said the insurers had the wrong registration number, not sure if mine or his. So he said my excess would be dropped and I would not have to pay for it. So my car is being picked up on Tuesday by the garage that Tesco use. I remember some of the posters on here said I shouldn't accept a courtesy car, which i was going to. Tesco use a company called driver assist, however when I tried to search them online, I only found a compnay called drive assist, not sure if its the same one or not. I saw a forum, think it was moneysupermarket and there are awful reviews on how this compnay rip customers off by claiming the customer has damaged the car.
Should I stay clear from the courtesy car? I really do not know what to do.
Hope someoe can give me some advice. Thanks.0 -
I took a week off work to avoid having to use a courtesy car, from what ive heard they're all playing silly games at the moment with regards to damage claims.
So I had the week off and took the opportunity to do some much needed DIY around the house

Thanks, hopefully my car will not take long to repair. My bumper is damaged, not sure if there is anything else wrong with it, so hoping it will not take more than a week. I think I will pass on the courtesy car and do a much needed spring cleaning lol
Thanks for replying. 0 -

Yes, as you have sumised, can take 4 to 10 times as long, and that is no exageration.

In my experience 'incidents' involving company vans tend to take longer to resolve, there are too many people involved in the process ... the fleet management company, the fleet department of the hiring company, the transport manager etc etc ........ who will all try to get out of admitting liability ...........˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

I need some advice again, sorry to be a pain. I called the garage today as my car was picked up on Tuesday for repair. The garage is through Tesco Car Insurance. I was told that I would get a call Thursday to be informed of the outcome but I got no call. Basically they told me yesterday that my car was still being assessed and would get a call today, which I never so called them again. I have been told it looks like my car is beyond economical repair. Am I right in thinking this is a write off? I was also told that a mechanic, although I am sure he said engineer from Tesco would check my car maybe Monday the earliest to say whether or not the car is an actual write off. I am a bit confused. Its either a write off or not. He said the bumper is £306 plus the light is £120, then he said to repair it would cost over £700 but he how can it cost that much?
I am really strugglying without a car now and I really do not want to take out the courtesy car, which is with Drive Assist but Tesco said to me if I do take out the car, not to worry and if I have any problems to contact them. I have read very bad reviews about drive assist.
Also if the car is a write off for sure and I buy it back, will I still be covered by Tesco to drive my car. I am a bit worried as my MOT is due end of October as well as my road tax.0 -
If you end up with the courtesy car, demand that they only deliver it on a clear day with no rain and in day light hours. Then before signing anything, take a camera and go all around the car (the guy will be getting really irrate by now). Then do the same when you return it

As for dealing with write offs, your best bet is to phone your insurance and ask the question.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks for that. Will I be allowed to take pictures? I am sure I should be able to and should I take pictures of inside the car too? Thanks again for your reply.0

^^ Can't stop you, but like I say the guy who delivers it might not be too pleased.
However he only has his company to blame for the inconvenience.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
