Hi

Does anyone know where/who organises the airport lost property auctions for north of the border. I live near Glasgow we have two large airports in this vicinity plus Edinburgh which is just up the road so I would imagine that there would sufficient 'items' to warrant one. Any info would be gratefully received.

They could be anywhere in the UK. My local auction house used to do lost property from Gatwick & Heathrow - we're in the South West.

Also, bear in mind that you're much less likely to get a bargain nowadays thanks to all of the tv shows. Also 90% of what you get tends to only be fit for the bin (think broken electronics, used underwear etc).

The contents of lost luggage is private and personal and may contain sensitive personal information that in the wrong hands is dangerous. From experience BA lost my daughters luggage and couldn’t be arsed to find it. Profiting from sending it for auction is a cop out. Contents should be destroyed.:(

Regarding the Airline lost luggage, several years ago l went to the auction house in South London (Greasbys). Expecting just that,only to find out that anything of value is removed and auctioned separately (on preview days you can see them going through the cases in the back of a lorry) I ended up buying a suitcase of clothes which couldnt even be sold on ebay..it is however a chance you take. Do remember the suitcases can be broken and its only clothes inside. Do NOT expect to find any money,footwear,souvenirs etc personal effects inside.
It is however an experience ! But do check out on their website catalogue, it tells you exactly what your getting..Buyer beware.
