  • Lol! I wish I could ask for a grand down payment! No such luck! Have just realised for the first time today how badly Teaching Assistant's get paid! I will speak to HR tomorrow. School have said they should be able to arrange a special payment but I don't know how long it will take. I'm so desperate for the money! Unauthorised overdraft charges are £5 a day almost an hour's net salary each day. I will go online and cancel dd's - yet more hassle because of somebody else's error. The bf shopped and has subbed me the money until I get paid. I think I'm most frustrated about not knowing how much I'm going to get paid so not being able to budget and plan. I need to be shopping for DS3's birthday which is in a couple of weeks. It's going to be at least a couple of months before things settle down and I will actually know what a pay packet looks like. I know it's silly but I was really excited about getting my bank accounts sorted out and starting to put some money aside.

I know I'm whingeing but I am so frustrated. Why can't it be simple? It's been 2 months and I'm still waiting to get paid. Meanwhile the sense of defeat is spilling over into the house (a mess), my eating (appalling) and my parenting (negligent - not in the social services sense but in the grumpy, bare minimum sense). And it's making me feel as if I don't want to go into work tomorrow. Grrr, grrr, grrrr, grump, grump, grump. I can't even over indulge on puddings. Although I do have a chocolate snowman I could take it out on. I should probably treat myself to a nice hot bath but I'm too grumpy even for that! And DS3 smeared toothpaste all over the bathroom floor and I'm leaving it there in protest! I don't want to have to deal with it!!

Not surprised you don't have much motivation for going to work, I know I wouldn't have either if they hadn't paid me in 2 months  And your parenting skills are just fine, everyone has off days and today sounds particularly stressful.

  • Bit the head of the chocolate snowman. Not sure it has resolved anything and so I am going to wallow my way to bed.

Just tried to cancel dd's online but Halifax website seems to be running sooo slowly it keeps crashing. Consequently, I've only managed to cancel 1 of 2 which are due out tomorrow. Have tried 3 times. Grr grr grrr!!!

Move away from the computer, make a cup of tea, then come back and try again. I know it's really fustrating but if you manage to cancel that 2nd direct debit you'll avoid more unpaid charges.

Are you ok Ruby? Hope you managed to cancel that direct debit last night and really hoping your school manages to sort something out with your pay today. Try to stay calm, you can be certain your friends here on MSE won't let you go hungry :grouphug:

I'm feeling very lucky and much calmer. The bf did a shop for me today and one of my dearest and oldest Brighton friends dropped off a food parcel (including cat food!) and an envelope full of cash. She's been saving for a wetsuit and has lent me the money. Hopefully, I won't need it because the money should be in my account on Friday (everything crossed!).

So my mind is back to more menial worries such as what am I going to teach for the breastfeeding class tomorrow (I have never taught one!) and who am I going to dress up as on World Book Day?!

I-touch is confiscated (not bought by me I hasten to add), DD's are cancelled and dinner is parcelled up on the doorstep. I'm off to clean the kitchen inspired and motivated by photos of my friends calm, tranquil, child free house!!

You are so lucky to have such lovely friends. If it's not in your account on Friday, make sure you go on strike until they send a CHAPS payment across :rotfl:

I guess at the breastfeeding class you should teach just that :rotfl:
From experience I think you should mention that if the baby does not latch on properly it will be agony and also if they can't do it they are not a failure!!!

For World Book Day I thought you could either goes as Belle D'Jour :rotfl:or on a more serious note could you go as one of the Famous Five - that way you get to wear scruffy jeans and top all in the name of having an adventure!!!

Oh thank you you guys, you've made me laugh out loud! I was feeling all sorry for myself (I'll tell you this briefly because I don't want to dwell on it) because a good, now former, friend (and neighbour unfortunately) just launched a nasty, vicious facebook attack on me and my 7 year old son. Feeling shaken, not least because she has my door keys and knows I'm out at work all day. It was mean and vicious and I feel gutted by the extremes of humanity. Ironically, it was because she misunderstood something I'd said as a judgement on her for not breastfeeding. If she'd known me better or been a better friend she would know that I would never, ever judge anybody because of how they birthed, fed or parented their children. She'd also know that my eldest was mixed fed from 9 weeks and formula fed from 6 months. You try and live the best, kindest, gentlest life you can and you still get shot down.

Anyway, as I said, I'm not going to dwell. Dampening the adrenalin down with copious amounts of red wine. And giggling at the very idea of me turning up at school as Belle D'Jour (you know me too well!) and running around after my 5 year old one to one in 6 inch Manolo Blahniks! And I thought about Famous Five! There were suggestions about Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland etc - I only have the burlesque version!!

Mags - whole school is dressing up. I narrowly escaped 3 little pigs! So I am racking my brains. Kind of needs to be from a children's book. What can I be? What can I be? Asked my kids and they have suggested Lola, Mrs Twit and My Naughty Little Sister. I quite like Mrs Twit. Help!
