Wogglemaker, I love your signature, so much so I hope you don't mind if I use it in my own.
Googled it and saw its a Scouting saying, but so applicable to life I think.
Re the egg mcmuffin egg making.
I made mine this morning, frying pan on, oil in, silicone egg ring in, egg in, tablesppon of water on top of egg.
Left to 'set', then removed egg ring, didn't seep as much today, then flipped egg over to seal and then plonked on bread roll...very nice it was too.
I didn't have any plastic cheese though.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

OMG!!!!
I can not believe the difference between this very thinly sliced one and the thicker one that I made.
The other was brilliant and such a suprise that it tasted just like our local doner house kebab.
This one was outstanding!
If I had given this a friend who is takeaway mad (he likes his food, he is a chef) I swear he would not have been able to tell it was not from the takeaway.
I am def going to do the same each time, if not freeze then cook the day before and chill so that I can use the slicer to slice it up.
Wow, that looks fantastic! where can I get one of those slicers from?Re the egg mcmuffin egg making.

I am going to try the spoonful of water next time I make my egg muffins!
I know I am going to sound thick herebut did you use a spoonful of cold water, or did you boil some?

I wondered too, but I just used cold water from the tap.
I've seen on Man Vs Food and other such cookery programmes that many cooks put a lid over food when its cooking to steam it and soften it...I did think of trying this but didn't have the chance today. I have done it with burgers and it makes them super juicy.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Hi
When people were saying that they were making more then one lamb kebab at a time and freezing them I didn't realize you were cooking them too. So when I made these last weekend I froze the mixture which is currently defrosting for tonights dinner.
Will this still be ok? Should I have cooked it prior to freezing?
Thanks

hi Pixie,
as long as it's defrosted before you cook it, it'll be fine
there are advantages & disadvantages to cooking 3 at a time
advantage ... more efficient use of your oven
advantage ... as you can see from the posts & pics above it's much easier to slice the meat wafer thin when it's been cooked & chilled :T
disadvantage ... none of mine made it to the freezer! I made them on Saturday & by Sunday evening they were all gone!0 -

I bought mine from the German distributer via ebay a while ago. It worked out the same price as buying it from the UK one but I also got the stand with it.
Make sure you buy a BORNER food slicer though which is the best and will last for years, the others are copies and won't last as long.
My current Borner is white, I think the lastest ones are black.
The original one that I bought in the 80's was orange and lasted me about 12 years. One of the inserts with the metal blades (the ones that you use for chips) split but that was only after 12 years so I did have good use from it.
The YouTube vid below explains exactly how to use one.

I don't normally like plastic cheese but I think it actually 'makes' this if you know what I mean. Try it with plastic cheese but make sure you wrap the made up muffin in foil and put it in the oven for a few minutes before you eat it.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I still have some lamb doner left for lunch but I want a sausage and egg muffin now.0 -

I wonder if sales of slicers will take off now the way the book has?0 -
