I guess this is the king of mandolins
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mandolin-Bron-/150494745477?pt=UK_Kitchen_Accessories&hash=item230a2f9385
I couldn't spend that unless money was no object (& it is:D).0 -
I'm wondering if I could slice it in my Magimix?
it's got one of those 'fat' feed tubes, so it I shaped the meat correctly it should fit in :think:0 -
Is a Borner the best one?
I thought this one was really good, I was thinking of buying it as mine is loosing its sharpness

Whats the onbe they use on Materchef? Anyone know? That looks like it would last:D
I don't know to be honest.
All I know is my last one as I say lasted 10 to 12 years and they are made in Germany. One thing about the Germans, they won't stand for cr*p quality items.
Plus the Borner has been around for about 50 years.
Google Borner to find a few details about the company.0 -

I'm also a real fan lof Oxo0 -
I don't think you actually need one with legs on it.
Here are a few reviews on Amazon regarding the Borner one.

Well, I tried doing an egg in a small round container in the microwave.
I gave it to the dog and made them in the normal way.
It just exploded and was uneven compared to the flat egg you get from the pan.
My husband didn't know I had tried it until he saw the egg in the dogs bowl, he said he is glad it failed as he much prefers them from the pan as they have a slight crispy base to them.0 -
) had a can opener too, but my Ex nicked that!
but, I've read some bad reviews of the OXO slicer, I was investigating it with a view to buying it at one point, I'll try to see if I can find a link0 -
I'm real a fan of some of the OXO products too, I've got a peeler, masher & salad spinner (best ever

Do you know what, just remembered my spinner that broke after a couple of uses was oxo & my garlic press was too - I emailed them about the garlic press - I had forgotten about the spinner:mad: - they asked for the date I bought it & the receipt, I answered I didn't have these & they haven't responded:mad::mad::mad:
Shame I have two peelers that I love & the masher. I'm a real fan - but I'm wondering should I be?
ETA I got the can opener too.
E again TA I got the julienne peeler, the citrus peeler & the giant pizza wheel.0 -
the reviews are on Amazon.com there were very few reviews on the UK site, so I had a look on the US one, there seems to be more than one model, but none of them get consistently good stars
the Borner on the other hand fares much better
I was surprised, because usually the Goodgrips/OXO brand's products are very good0 -

You need to pierce the yolk (one sharp stab with a fork) or else it will explode.
I make eggs in the microwave all the time (cheap and fast protein for lunch).0
