I have a silicone one but when I used it (and it leaked they teeniest amount) I just used a spatula to remove the bit that made it slightly less than perfect
It doesnt affect the taste of it and mine still looked how it should (pics posted at the time) so not sure you need to worry too much

The only thing with these is your egg wouldn't be flat like the McD ones.
I realise I'm spending waaay too much time thinking about this but what about poaching the egg, in the microwave, with a silicone muffin tray? They aren't shaped as much and you could do up to 6 at a time?
Something like this:

That could be worth a go actually, let us know how you get on.
It wouldn't be worth it for me as only the two of us eat eggs. My 11 year old is a right fussy eater, she won't even try pizza, spag bol, curry etc. A single drop of coke, orange squash etc had never passed her lips! She only tried ice cream when she was about 8! Strange child.0 -

I was thinking much the same thing, but poached in a pan of water as I have THESE but they'd come out the wrong shape
so I've been measuring my 6 cup Texas muffin pan, they're 7 cm across at the base, I haven't got a muffin handy to measure so don't know if that might be too small?
I had a look & found THIS on eBay, scroll down to see the shape they produce, they're 4" across, bit dearer though0 -
 great minds!!!

Just measured my muffins for you and they are 9cm diameter.

Sounds like a good Christmas pressie for my daughter. She has a takeaway every Friday. I'm off them now for the weight loss but my mouth's watering now.0

Right, update on the egg making saga.
I've been to town and picked up a microwave twin egg poacher for £1 from the cheapy shop, it worked perfectly! The egg poacher isn't shaped so the eggs come out flat like McDonalds eggs. :j
Howeverthey are a bit smaller than a muffin (I'm having mine in a bun instead), so it got me thinking again.
I've decided the next time I make them I'm going to use my small round lock & lock pots as a mold instead! They're the right size and shape so should work if I cook the eggs the same way as the microwave egg poacher:
a little bit of butter rubbed on so the egg doesn't stick,
crack the egg in the pot, use a knife tip to break the yolk (and also pierce the white a few times so they don't explode),
put 1 teaspoon of water on top of the egg
either lay the lid on top (don't close properly) or put some clingfilm over and stick in the microwave for a minute or until the egg is cooked.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

I'm so easily swayed. I bought a Remoska and a Panny and now this! Looking forward to the doner.0
