So was mine but when i put it with the tikka ingredients it was lovely. Couldn't use it on its own though, too watery.

  • Well I'm in the process of preparing a chinese banquet using recipes from the book. I have chicken wings and ribs marinating. I've made the chinese curry and added onion, mushrooms and chicken like my local chinese does. As a warning though I doubled the recipe as there are 4 of us and it is extremely hot so I'm having to figure out a way of making it cooler. We also tried making the pancakes to make spring rolls but the pancakes just didn't turn out well at all so we gave up on them. Still to make egg fried rice and a beef chow mein. Will let you know how it all turns out

I have to say that pre-cooking the curry lamb in the base sauce as K describes makes it meltingly tender. DH and I agree it was the best curry we have had, ever. My first H was indian, and we live on the outskirts of a big curry city so this is a big complement. The raita was great, and the garlic and coriander nan are well worth the effort.

I have bananas hidden for muffins tomorrow :p.

losingpatience - can you put some potatoes in to take some of the heat out, or stir through some natural yoghurt?

  • i would HIGHLY recommend the chow mein i followed the beef chow meinrecipe but used chicken instead and it is very very good have had this book for a few months now having followed this thread and the book is rarely on the shelf other things have tried are

potatoe fritters ...very crispy with a soft ssquishy middle delicious with salt and vinegar on them

donner kebab needs no introduction a firm fav on here

chips have made them as he describes quite a few times and though takes a bit longer they are a winner

sweet and sour chicken balls one of our fav dishes in the book and so easy to prepare ( I use less sugar though and tsp not tblsp cornflour)

stciky ribs Mmmmmm these were really easy and loverly too

chow mein as mentioned above a great easy to make dish

garlic bread thumbs up all round i used paninni whoopsied in freezer and split

naan breads used to make these in BM but follow his recipe now

veg pakoras .. red sauce Mmmmmm super

pizza and quick pizza sauce very good not to doughey

we should be size of house :D but find as we live so far away from any take aways its easier and quicker to prepare our own and likely better for you

i guess everyones own takeaway is different and personnal tweaks to recipes are inevitable but would recommend this book to anyone
