I've had an email from Amazon notifying me that my book's on its way. :j

When should I notify Next that my clothes order will increase, literally, due to all these yummy treats? :rotfl:

Sweet & Sour sauce tasted nothing like a takeaway one :(

    Way too sweet as well.

Well if you make the lamb doner kebabs you may not need to.

It is unbelievable how much fat there isn't in it when it has been cooked!

The banana muffins have no fat in them except for a bit of sunflower oil (vegetable oil or whatever you choose to use).

I am sure our takeaway put chili in theirs so it is more like a sweet chili sauce.

I agree that this one does taste too sweet but some like it like that.

My husband loved the chicken balls but I don't think I will bother making the sweet and sour sauce next time, I can buy it cheap enough at B&M's.

The sweet and sour sauce was too sweet and not sour enough for us so I reduce the amount of sugar and add a bit more vinegar.

  • I've read through this thread with great interest and it only took a few pages until I decided to purchase a copy of the book! Hoping that it will come this week so I can try something out at the weekend. We were buying far too many takeaways, it got to the point where we weren't even particularly enjoying them, it was just laziness. So we've not had one in a couple of weeks now ( we were getting at least 2 a week :o ) and if I can manage to make food thats as good or better than a takeaway then hopefully actually ordering in will become a rarity
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

My OH made lamb doner, pitta bread and garlic sauce for our supper last night...lush! Well the pitta breads ended up as bread rolls as recipe didn't say to flatten dough (bless him!) but were still nice ha ha. He also left the herbs out of the sauce and didn't use as much water, mmm can still taste it now, really!
  • As a result of this thread a copy of the book is winging its way to Australia as I write - a little Xmas stocking filler for daughter-in-law. Books are so expensive there and it will remind the family of home.

(thinks) maybe I need another copy for me
  • My book arrived this morning :j

Only ordered it late Sunday night through amazon and just chose the standard free delivery so I'm pleasantly surprised at how quickly it arrived. Now to decide what I'm making this weekend for me, OH and my sis and her fiance

Grrrrr! I've lost my copy .

I have checked everywhere. Bookshelves, kitchen, storecupboard, bedside table - even the loo, and I can't find it anywhere.

I think I may have left it out and someone (wife) tidied it away. Of course, she can't remember doing so or where she might have put it.
