Just a quick update ladies....
Baby Kai was born on 22 August 2010 at 11:10am weighing 7lb 6oz after a difficult and stressful labour.
Had been having irregular contractions since Thursday evening but hadn't called as they weren't very strong and varied between 15 mins and 8 mins all over a min long.
Saturday night and the contractions regulated out to every 4-5 mins and were slightly more painful so called midwives for home birth at 1:50 Sunday morning. 2 lovely midwives came at 2:30 and after a lovely chat and a bit of monitoring, I was examined and pronounced to be 5cm dilated, however baby's heartbeat had dropped after the contractions to 10 beats per min which meant I had to be transferred to hospital to be on the safe side.
Went in ambulance at 3:20 and arrived at 3:30. I was then examined there and pronounced to be only 3cms dilated/ Baby was monitored and no further problems found and heartbeat was normal, however they didn't want to send me home after the previous midwives findings so decided to monitor me for a couple of hours while they decided what was best.
At 7am, they decided that it was best that even though I had been regularly contacting, no further progress had been made so they would break my waters to try and speed things up. I agreed and my waters were broken at 7:30am. This is where things went wrong.
When my waters broke, they found Meconium so decided baby had to hurry up and be born. Unfortunately, this decision was made during a shift swap with what appears to have been the most inexperienced, young, useless, crappy midwife ever.
They then decided that I was to be put on the drip to increase my contractions, and recommended that as the drip usually makes the contractions worse than "natural" ones, that I accept an epidural. I agreed to this and thought that that would be the best idea.
However, crappy midwife turned the drip up too high (we ddin;t realise this until the end) as she had taken the "needs to be born as soon as possible" to a whole new level. So, when epidural woman arrived, I was already sucking in gas and air in considerable pain.
So lady arrives, puts in epidural...... in the wrong place. Consequently... did not numb anything. Could still feel everything and move my legs..... the works. Midwife from hell registers this, and does not call epidural lady back to refit it, decides it "probably isn't worth it if it didn't work the first time". Thus... on the drip with only gas and air. No other pain relief offered even though they were aware epidural had failed.
So... contractions get worse and worse and were unbearable. At 9:45, I felt the urge to push, but noone had checked me since I arrived so they did not realise I had dilated too fast (in the words of senior widwife lady later... they had overstimulated me) and the contractions that I was experiencing were a series of smaller ones one after each other instead of one long strong one. Again this wasn't picked up until I had been pushing for approximately 1 hour and senior midwife was called.
She took one look at me, and asked the crappy midwife why the doctor hadn't been called yet as this was clearly not right. Crappy midwife says that she assumed that every push would be my last. (Husband says at this point you could only see approximately 2 sq inches of head so this was very unlikely as he hasn't moved at all in that hour).
Midwfie from hell makes the decision that an episiotomy was probably best and went ahead without my consent as I was in no fit state by this point to make any decisions. (I had passed out twice by this point). Cut was made, and was told to keep pushing for a further 20 mins.
Unfortunately, as senior midwife later points out to crappy midwife, the smaller contractions were not strong enough to deliver babys head with or without cut so doctor arrives and makes immediate decision that as I was now losing blood pressure ventouse was needed urgently.
Kai was then delivered about 5 mins later and was basically pulled into the world.
I was left then in pain from cuts for a further 20 mins while all midwives cleaned the room up before stitching me up as crappy midwife did not feel she could do this and would rather someone else do it.
Luckily he is healthy and well after the trauma of all this.
I can't put into words how I feel about it at the moment, but am glad it is all over.:jHappily Married 12/09/09:j:jDS1 born 22/08/10 7lb 6oz:j

I decided to meet friend and texted him just before i was going to set off to see if he has set off only to find he was still at home, so there was no way he was going to make it for half one, he then wanted to meet at two, so texted again before setting off to find he was only just waiting for bus ten mins before we were suppose to meet so he would have been late. By that point i was really fed up and told him i would meet another time, i just had enough. I wish i could have friends that don't take the !!!!. Why can't i have friends that have more respect for me, i would never treat friends like they do. It makes me feel that i must be a bad person and i just wish i could have some nice friends.
Congrats MV on team blue. Hope that everything is ok for kitkat. Hugs to people that need them.
Poor youYou're not a bad person, you're actually a lovely person for knowing you would never treat anyone else like that. Some people can just be unbelievably selfish and find it hard to think about others before themselves. You were right to say you'd meet him another time - wait for him to make a plan this time though. (((hugs))) xxx

I would have liked to made more effort on the forums since getting that positive test, but I was sick as a dog in the first trimseter and we have had a close family member suffering with terminal cancer who died a few weeks ago, who lived over 150miles away so its been many a manic motorway journey.
Anyway I hope to get to know you over the coming weeks and months that we have left til our new arrivals are here.
Mary (twoflower169) xx
Welcome Mary! Congratulations on your pregnancySorry to hear about your family member, I hope you and Daniel are getting all the support you need during this time? Remember to look after yourself, your husband and bump

Thankyou Lillian. My friends do only seem to think about themselves. What also annoys me about it is, when baby is here, it won't just be me they are messing around i will have baby to think of too. Welcome Mary and sorry to hear about your family member.Married 09/09/090

Evening all - just popping for a quick hello.
TNV - congratulations on baby Kai. sounds like you had an awful time. Hope you and the little one are ok.
MV - yayy on team blue! I have followed your story as I have been lurking on the forums for ages but never got the nerve to post. My heart broke for you in the last year as I had been going through a similar experience and I wish I had had the courage at the time to tell you to hang in there and that it would happen for you. I am so pleased that everything is going well for you.
Don - that sounds really painful. Hope it eases off for you.
Lilian - my pain seems to be worse if I have been sitting or lying down for any length of time - usually really bad first thing in the morning or if I try and turn over during the night (interrupted sleep before baby is even here!). I had hoped baby would engage sooner rather than later and that it might help stabilise things but no such luck! However I'm just biding my time and telling myself that at most I have 8 weeks to go (if I go over) and saying silent prayers that it goes away after. One thing a friend did tell me was to get the midwife or other to check that the pelvis is in the right position after delivery - presumably so that when ligaments tighten again, pelvis is in the right place.
MS12 please don't let your friends upset you. You are obviously a lovely person as you wouldn't do this to them in return. At this stage (I think you and I are at the due date) I wouldn't take that from my friends and unfortunately my preg hormones appear to have interrupted my ability to think clearly and I would be more than likely to come out with what I was thinking. Has got me into trouble a couple of times at work recently! Please please don't upset yourself.
Welcome Mary and all sorts of whatever types of vibes are needed to whomever wants them!!0 -
