Forgot to mention I got the free samples from the Lansinoh website - 1 breast milk storage bag and 2 disposable nursing pads.

So they don't exactly over do it....hardly worth the postage. Sorry, I seem so ungrateful.
  • In the 70's my mother was kept in from 36 weeks till she gave birth 5 weeks later due to being a "nervous mother":rotfl:

She also said that after giving birth it was normal to stay in hospital for nine days!

Thats what my step mum said, you stayed in at least a week, normally about 10 days. She was shocked when I was at home after 6 hours lol

Not that long ago in the hospital they used to take the babies away from the mums at night to let the mums sleep. I was in for 3 days with my first, it wasn't DD who kept me awake but the other mums snoring, the roasting hot ward, the midwives waking you for meds and toast. Plus the other 5 babies waking up through the night. It was not a nice experience.

  • Morning Ladies,

    CONGRATS - LADYLEGS

Dont really know how to explain what my week has been like, its been a mixture of sorting out all things financial, like hearing that the mortgage will be paid, (which is a real relief), or dealing with DH's parents requests with regards to funeral, one or 2 differences of opinion and having to be tough about my answers. I had to prepare DH's clothes for him to wear, I cried all the way through ironing the shirt, as I always complained about having to iron so many and now I wish it was the other way round.

Ds has been up and down all week some good days, some bad days, asking questions and telling me he wants daddy, which is so hard to explain to a 2yr old, but I do have support from a bereavment support service, so that is helping with explanations.

My parents been here most of the week, dh's mum here for 2days, now they have all gone home, and I'm trying to do 'Normal' for ds for a couple of days, my parents back on tuesay for funeral weds.

On a pregnancy note I'm 31+2 and I have so much to organise, DH was going to be doing all the DIY jobs to enable moving everything in to the right rooms and preparing for space in loft, so now need to get friends to help get these things sorted, the babys room has just been a dumping ground for months, and of course we were going to do so many things together, I now need to get others to help and it feels like they will be invading an element of my privacy, its weird, can't explain it! Baby is really active, seeing the midwife on tuesday. In some ways I wish I wasn't this far ahead in my pregnancy as I need more time to prepare our home and I dont want to be panicking about it all. Midwife said to pack bag from 34wks this time, thats only 3 weeks away, cant even remember what I had last time!

So where as I would rather just sit on my sofa and do nothing, I have plenty to sort out.

Anyway back to lurkdom, will be back soon.

    TF xx
  • Hugs to you twoflowers, you may not feel like it but you are coping so incredibly well with this and staying so strong for your little ones, your OH is very proud of you right now.

Keep coming back if you need to cry and rant, its easier to do to strangers! x
