    Evening all!

Wow, its so surreal to be posting here. Even though i spent the whole pregnancy with Lily on this thread :o

What do you think of my plan about finding out the flavour of baby? As my 20wk scan is on xmas eve, im going to take an envelope with a bit of card in and ask the sonographer to write the sex down and seal it, but not tell us, so we can open it xmas day :o:)

Even though I have the cotbed already, seeing the mattress - it looks huge! Do you think I'll end up having to get a moses basket for the first few months? Will a newborn not like being in a cotbed?

:rotfl:Neither of mine would sleep anywhere except on mummy:rotfl:

    EA great plan, hon!

  • Hello

I hate my MIL... this morning I prepped a stew and stuck it in a slowcooker, switched it on and went out. She popped round to "help" by cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom then proceeded to switch off the slowcooker. Despite me having clearly left her a note saying not to. SO tea wasnt ready when we came home but should be good to eat at about 10pm... so we are having that tomorrow. Stupid woman.

fireworks were brilliant, kids loved it, I nearly passed out from the standing and now my feet and back are killing but it was good. Krystal you are probably right not to go, OH was going to take them and I didn't want to miss out and he didn't want me missing out. Glad I went. They are off tomorrow so no rushing for an early start, I'll probably take them to a soft play or something so I don't need to do much and they haven't been to one for years except for parties. Right I'm hoping the evenings activities are going to make me so tired I get a great nights sleep, could really do with one.

Giz do you have a pram or carry cot with the pushchair you have, if so I wouldn't buy a moses basket as well. They can sleep in that inside the cotbed at first if you think the cotbed too big, some babies would be fine with it, others not. DD wouldn't sleep in her moses basket so slept in the pram for about 3 months then into a cotbed.

We're not buying the carrycot for the pram anymore (mainly because I didn't like the way it looked on the pushchair). It would have cost £145. A moses basket would be cheaper. The pushchair we have folds down suitable for a newborn, so the carrycot was just really a pretty extra (that to be honest we can't afford right now). Babies are fickle things aren't they? :)

I don't think you can. My pharmacist told me I couldn't have anything. I made my own honey and lemon drink. Used fresh lemons (about 2 tablespoons) with 1 tablespoon of honey in hot water. It tastes quite nice.

There are other recipes that include ginger which is supposed to be good for colds.

If you get a sore throat, gargle warm salt water.

Otherwise just keep your fluids up and rest :)

    Love that idea :)

Just a heads up for those who like a bargain.

Went into Debenhams to buy a little pressie for my friend who has just had a baby girl. Picked up a pack of long sleeved/legged sleepsuits from the Bluezoo Baby range marked at £10. Had one of the free £5 Debenhams vouchers (no min spend as long as it's over £5) from the Grabbit board to use. Got to the till and the sleepsuits had 20% off so were only £8 take off the Debenhams voucher and they came to just £3 :j

The 20% offer is on till the 12th on certain childrens clothing :) the sales assistant also told me that the week after that Debenhams are having one of their 50% sales and it will include almost all of the baby items ;)

You can claim as many Debenhams vouchers as you like per person but I think you have to use a fresh email address each time. I'm going to print off a couple more and go back and get some more baby grows from the same range but in blue for my friend who is due next week. Might even be tempted to get some for us too :D

yep moses basket would be cheaper, you can get some real bargin ones around too and they are in them for such a short time. It's up to you then, you could source the one you like, try baby in the cotbed but if its not settling get the moses basket, or just splash out. We were given ours and have managed to keep it for all 3 just new mattresses.
