Gosh, yeah, starting to get a bit excited! Do we need to bother with drinking lots before hand?? I am guessing not but thought I'd ask...
I have already told OH to keep an eye out for "appendages" as they won't tell us at the scan what flavour but hoping baby might oblige and make it obvious.

I don't think a full bladder is necessary but I'm going to aim for 1/2 full to give the best pics possible ie drink normally but not go to the loo for a couple of hours before.
You could ask the sonographer to freeze the screen on a shot of the bits so you can see what you think and promise him/her you won't ask their opinion

On my letter for my 20 week scan it said I must drink at least half a litre of water at least an hour before the scan :)

Guess what I'm doing now! ;)

Poor you Fairy. I hate that but my hospital told me at 12 weeks not to worry about drinking for the 20 week one. Hope you have an ace scan and get some good piccies to post later :)

GFH Has my cynical thoughts about midwives. DD1 i was told there was no way i was in labour but just to make me happy they would check to see if *ANY* dilation oo what ya know i'm 5-6cms then told OH to go get food as it was a sunday and everything shutting and i wouldn''t deliver for ages and CX looked mild on trace and i was coping fine the oh look theres a head. DD2 induced apperently i wasn't in labour yet i knew i was sad i wanted to push told not to be silly i wasn't even in labour the computer said so oh look whats the head doing down there then.

So weird that we would actually know what is happening to our bodies:think:

@Kataratarina - hope you're not too sore today. I was reading the next section in my pregnancy book and it says we're prone to falls and that baby is really well cushioned. But it did advise to ring the midwife anyway just to inform them.

I didn't need to drink for my 20 week scan.

40 working days to go... :(

Been looking into new careers with animals. Looks like working at Chessington Zoo might be out as there is a job up at the moment, but it asks for "an animal qualification". I need to investigate more to find out what that means. I looked at some local animal courses, but they are 2 years long at over £2k a year :( Just cannot afford that right now and being a 'mature' student I wouldn't get any help.

I also feel that I'm going to struggle to get an animal job because I've not got any formal experience with animals. I just haven't had time to volunteer and I'll have even less time with baby. It seems that veterinary nursing is still my best option with on the job training, even if the pay is super low, but OH works some late nights each week and I'm not sure how to juggle a toddler if I was on call while OH was working late.

Sorry, went off a bit there. Helps to get these things written down sometimes :)

  • Sounds like a fab plan, giz. May be worth contacting some course providers as they have a certain responsibility to make the courses accessible to all.

I fell down the stairs with DD1 and was terrified, but no problem.
