Ladies, I'm worried as was eating some spare ribs from Chinese tonight, and pretty sure I was looking at every mouthful before eating and saw some pink and spat my last bit out and didn't eat anymore of that side. Just ate the bits which were white (pork spare rib). I don't think I ate any pink, but really freaking out now
Also read somewhere you're not supposed to eat salami or hotdog sausages when pregnant, but I've had both a few times now. Salami from Subway and the tinned hot dogs boiled.
My OH reckons I'm being silly and over the top, but I'm scared incase I get that toxoplasmosis thing or food poisoning and hurt the babyI have cats and OH always changes the litter box, I do try and be careful. I have read a bit too much, but some sites say if you have cats you may have had the toxo thing before and become immune to it without realising.
Please can someone reassure me, or should I have a blood test for the toxo thing?:(:(

Digital - Youre fine hun, dont worry!! These things, yes they are there to warn us but I think you have to take them with a pinch of salt, reckon the experts would have us live on bread and water for 9 months if they could.
As for the cat thing, as long as OH changes the litter and you tend to stay away then I reckon youre fine, no need for a blood test chick xxxxSealed Pot Challenge Member 151

Thanks hun, I am such a worry wart
I've been reading more on the net and apparently pork is so farmed now that chances of disease are almost non existant, so hopefully I'm just worrying about nothing.
It's so confusing all these do's and don'ts for what to eat when pregnant, I hate it. Finally start fancying food again, and wanted a Chinese but now making myself feel sick with worry so wish I hadn't had it now0 -
Digital - My mum was told to eat liver whilst pg with me... now your supposed to stay clear. When i was pg with DD I was told no peanuts but now its ok....... Basically they are a bit over cautious because once in a blue moon some one may be effected. I eat Blue steak, pate and peanuts and yahboo to any MW who tells me off lol.DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz

Thanks ladies. I hate all this scare mongering
Hopefully I didn't eat any, but if I did I suppose a wee amount wouldn't hurt
I've had food poisoning before and knew about it pretty quickly, but I feel OK now aside from feeling a bit sick with worry and probably eating a bit too much.
Hopefully baby is OK, I'm sure others have done it and had a healthy baby
I am just so annoyed as I have tried to be so careful0 -

Oh hun I totally get it..........not sure if this is your first? I was meticulous with mine, and determined to be just as careful this time after I had some early scares.........went out for a meal with family when I was about 12 weeks....forgot I was pregnant (I know I know!!) and had PATE as a starter!
Was just discussing with my sis about how nice it was when my mum says "Oh My God, you ate pate" I looked blankly at her til the horror dawned.....cue much depression and stress.......anyway clearly bump and I are both still here
For the record, not heard about hot dog sausages etc, but my bump is in fact existant as a reult of food poisening following a dodgy hot dog so I have stopped eating them anyhoo :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:
Epic post over0 -

I don't know why the sausages wouldn't be ok as they are smoked and then boiled.
I am just regretting the ribs now and hoping I didn't eat any of the pink.
Not much I can do about the salami, have had that twice...0 -
Digital - please try and not to worry too much, I ate a McFlurry at about 14 weeks not knowing that you shouldn't really eat whippy ice cream and sent myself potty with worry (which is not hard)!
I have a list of food that I haven't eaten since finding out I'm pregnant and I'm going to indulge once the little fella is here!Virtual Sealed Pot 2013 #41 - £69.27OJ born 25/01/110
