What about somesort of first aid kit? Any baby medicines that I couldn't do without? Do I need nappy rash cream from the outset too? Got a free sample of sudocrem, but it's quite small.

Ooh I think I need a nappy bag too for when out and about for the dirty ones.

Sudocrem is fab but I found the best for when the rash is bad was Metanium (yellow tube). It was a bit dearer but I needed less and the rash was nearly always soothed after 1 or 2 applications.

What about these waterproof sheet things for if waters break while in bed? Are they needed? Or is there an MSE alternative?
I suppose I need maternity sanitary towels too. Any recommendations for brand?
Waters = shower curtain under bedding..I can't stand the rustling myself so have settle for a couple of old towels under my side:)
Maternity towels....they're huge! I've only got one pack of 'proper' maternity towels, the rest are always nighttime ones which look like they'll do the job, bigger than normal towels but not as ginormous as maternity ones;)

I've got a nose sucker thing and got some nappy rash cream as a 'just in case' coz it was on offer:) as for nappy bags when out and about.....probs would be a good idea, but depends if you plan on using reuseables when out & about for what type of bag you'll need, personally I'll be using disposables when out & about so have got some of the Tesco 4p per pack(or summat stupid!) nappy sacks so I can bin it, the thought of carrying a $hitty nappy around with me all day does not appeal:eek::rotfl:

Really need to give myself a kick up th'!!!!! today, still not dressed & have no motivation whatsoever!:o

Do I need to buy some breastpads before baby is born?

personally I have never leaked before the birth and this is my 3rd time around....having said that, I have already bought some Lahnsinoh breastpads and have stuck a couple of pairs in my hospital bag just in case...

Can I have a little brag moment?! I won the Cake Lingerie competition to be one of 3 UK mums to feature in their marketing. I have some beautiful bump pics as a result (not to mention some beautiful lingerie and vouchers) :j

I'm 37+4 now and have been getting a lot of period pain like feelings over the last week or so.....I'm hoping DD2 is going to put in an appearance soon....soooo exciting!

By the way, a looong way back on the thread, we were discussing the pros/cons of ordering from Vertbaudet.....well, I went ahead and ordered a load of cot sheets from them because they are really much prettier and cheaper than anywhere else - especially with the deals on top. The order came in 2 parts, with the first lot taking over 3 weeks and the last installment arriving a month after placing the order. TERRIBLE customer service and delivery, BUT, the stuff is really nice and the cost is very persuasive. Verdict? Would buy from the again, but would do so well in advance of actually needing the stuff.

I used my breast pump a lot. I would freeze the milk I expressed to use later. I also used it when I started weaning my DS to mix with baby rice. Felt good that he was still getting my milk even after I had stopped breast feeding! I fed for 4 1/2 months, but he had my milk until 6 months, as I had so much of it in the freezer!

Not saying this should be used as a tactic for everyone, but once my milk was well established, I expressed every day.

    Good decision.

I like bepanthen, there's a nappy rash cream I forget the name of which is brill for cradle cap but dreadful for nappy rash.
Baby vick like snufflebabe is good, and maybe infacol for desperate moments...never sure if it works, though. Also calpol. Lots of soluble paracetamol for those after pains.
    ..at 27+5.

Im very proud that so far I have managed to stave off any stretchies, but am more than aware that there is still plenty of time for them to make an appearance!

Oooooo glad you mentioned freezing breast milk...how do you go about safely defrosting it?? once chilled/frozen do you heat it up like formula or just wait til its at room temp??
Sorry if the questions seem stupid:o:o
