My last working day will be 30th December (only got 2 days hol left, so I'm having 29th and 31st off). So my official maternity leave start date is 4th January.

So in answer to Rockins question I'm starting mat leave 4 weeks prior to EDD. Although with Christmas it's almost 5 weeks really. I was going to go back to work for a week after new year, but I really can't stand my job and decided the thought of returning after new year for 1 week was very depressing.

Same here, really dont like my job although I think its getting better. Have been discussing with hubby when to take maternity leave and thought i'd wait until 2 weeks before EDD although I hadn't realised that would be second week of Jan and I'm owed 8 days holiday (I think) so may try to wangle not going back after new year bank holiday. I will feel guilty though as were not allowed to take holiday then so not sure what my manager will say:(

Well this is the wish list :o. I doubt we'll be able to afford it all, I'm hoping to get it either off ebay or bought as gifts. The benefits of providing the first grandchild :A.
The 400 i'm not too sure about, just that my cotbed on the m+p website says a 400 cot mattress is recommended - I've no bl00dy idea :rotfl:

Is it about time I bought DS a new bed so we can use the cot bed eeekk I think I've left it a bit late. Also I'd really like OH to just double check we do have all the bits to turn it back into a cot, men are rubbish - he is in the loft this weekend no matter what.

I've been so rubbish and have no lists am completely winging it with what we have, then if I find I need something I'll have to go get it afterwards, just got things I knew we needed and didnt have like steriliser and a changing mat.

TBH I'm panicking alot about OH paternity pay, can't work out how much he'll get or where we can cut the budget back. Obviously 2 weeks will be normal pay that month then 2 at paternity pay so surely he'll pay alot less tax that month too, plus he'll have some overtime from the previous month. Its not going to be too bad is it, Its so hard when you don't know what the actual figures will be.

Just wanted to see how prepared we are... Green we've already got, crossed out we're not bothering with... We don't have a nursery to worry about so that makes a bit less work... ;) Oh, and I'm not replacing any mattresses from the cot / moses... Although I will stick the moses mattress through the washer because my step sister smokes so it'll probably all reek...

    Nursery Accessories
    Cot bumper
    [STRIKE]Nappy stacker [/STRIKE]
    Cable Blanket
    [STRIKE]Lampshade [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Curtains [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Shelves [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Storage boxes[/STRIKE]
    Nightlight
    [STRIKE]Bedside lamp[/STRIKE]

    Furniture/big stuff
    Pram
    Car Seat
    Moses basket
Moses basket stand (Need to rescue both from my step sister though...)
    Mattress
    Cot bed
    Cot mattress
    Baby bouncer (chair and door)

    Baby swing

    Clothing
    Coming home outfit
    Vests x 7
    Day outfits
    Hat
    Mittens
    Socks
    Sleepsuits
    Booties

    Bedding
    Fitted sheets for moses basket
    Blankets for moses basket
    Cotbed sheets
Cellular blankets (Actually hand knitted ones from my Mum)
    Sleeping bag x 2

    Feeding
    [STRIKE]Bottles & Teats
    Bottle brush
    Steriliser [/STRIKE]
    Bibs
    Breast pads
    Breast pump

    Changing and Bathing
    [STRIKE]Baby bath
    Muslin squares [/STRIKE]
    Baby towels
    [STRIKE]Hooded towel and mittens [/STRIKE]
    Changing mat
    Nappies
    Changing bag
    Sudocrem
    Baby wipes
    [STRIKE]Baby lotion[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Talc
    Baby oil [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Top and tail bowl[/STRIKE]

    Nice Extras
    Baby carrier
    Playmat
    Musical mobile
    Baby monitors

Makes me look all prepared doesn't it lol...

I'd reconsider the nappy stacker and hooded towels, I'm not one for buying for the sake of it and actually got those as gifts for my 1st. I'd now consider them necessary for my 2nd especially the hooded towels DD still uses one at 2 and a half she loves getting snuggled when she gets out.

*Just nipping in and out. *

Blimey, this thread really has found another gear. I read everything but tend to be consistently behind the current topic so don't post much and when I do, it's just piffle/bullocks:p

Anway, had a presentation scan at hospital today and baby's position is no longer a mystery. We are fully engaged, head down and ready to launch. :D

I also second what Emsy/Fuzz said about getting organised in the 2nd trimester - I have awful foof pains which wreak havoc with my mobility....I'd say do as much as you can between 20-30 weeks if it is possible.

PS. Anyone else have a good cry as Carol held a photo of the now dead Billy Jackson against her chest in Enders last night? It was emotional.:o

  • On the subject of MAT leave start dates, I'm pretty sure you acrue holidays while on leave which can be taken before you go or before you return. So you could go earlier than you thought::j
