I love the name Niamh too, but it was vetoed by DH for not being spelt the way it's said :( Not helped by my SIL, who when I said it's "neeve" as in Niamh Cusack, said, "but she's "neeme", isn't she?", which DH believes has proved his point.

I think we are settled on Eleanor for a girl at the mo, though I think someone mentioned the other day that she's a character in Alvin & The Chipmunks?? Maybe I'd better tell DH...

My name's Siobhan - it's mispronounced all the time but I guess people know they're saying it wrong, as opposed to Madeline which could annoy you if it was supposed to be a different way to the way people always say it?

and here was me assuming that your name was Lillian :o:rotfl:.

My name is slightly unusual with loads of variable spellings and I hate it when it's spelt wrong - which is more often than not, but even more I HATE it when someone shortens it!!

DD1 is called Ailsa, which I thought could never be misspelt or pronounced - but the number of times she gets Alisa....... DD2 is Iona - can't really get that wrong other than being called Isla??

Oh boy am I feeling sick today..... :(_pale_

  • What colour is Eve? Saffron (gotta be yellow?) and Emma??

Eve is a bluey green colour, more blue at the beginning and more green at the end. I really like the colours of Eve, but my next door neighbour and next door but 2 neighbour are both called Eve, so I've discounted it.
Emma is pale yellow with a little touch of blue at the end
Saffron is white in the middle with some yellowy green at the beginning and a dark colour at the end I can't quite put my finger on.

Gotta be careful here, in case I accidentaly offend people with my colour desciptions :p

I went out with someone for a few months, and I could never get over the colour of his name (browny greeny grey like the colour of the dirt that collects in gutters at the edge of the road). I soon realised that I just didn't like him enough to get past the name!

Feeling grotty today. Ate half my breakfast, then had to stop as I could feel it starting to think about returning. Nearly spewed on the vicar again. He did congratulate me on being pregnant though, so he seems to be understanding.

I like cows, but have no Asda near us. Do they do the cow suit online?

Sorry Bigbird - that was me!! I really like it too, maybe a bit long for our surname though, I would not have known about Alvin and the Chipmunks if it was not for DD2, and to be honest probably by the time your baby is here no one will ever remember the connection!!

Loads of girls names for us (as usual) but no boys names yet! feel we should think about them - they might not be correect!! Also DH does not know what we are having - only me :eek:

Yes, I saw the FB news :D

2girlsforme, I don't think DH will be too bothered. It's also the name of a character in a computer game he's been playing and he said it seemed a bit weird thinking of it as a name for our child because of that, but that he'd probably have forgotten all about the game before long.

Surnames are a pain, aren't they? I love the name Grace, but it won't work with our surname :(

We had a panic the other day as our friends had a baby boy. Our boy's name is the only one I feel really strongly about (it's my Granddad's name) and we were worried they'd name their little boy that and we wouldn't be able to use it. But they didn't, so that was a big relief.

My second grandson is called Louie.......at the time I thought spelling it Louis would be better, but daughter was sure he would get called Lewis instead and he probably would of done. This time around they are keeping names to themselves as there is always somebody ready to put you off. Third grandson due Christmas week so will be lovely addition this year.....probably not the best time of year for birthdays, present wise !

Hope you are feeling better Giz just take things easy and hopefully the sickness will just have been a one off thing.

Welcome Janine we always welcome new recruits round here :D

So had a good morning at the car boot. Got a brand new baby bath, top and tail bowl and bath sponge for the grand price of £1 :j then a Tommee Tipee microwave sterilser for £1.50 which hasn't been used it doesn't have any bottles with it but I would prefer new anyway and I can pick some up quite cheaply in one of the baby events. Then I brought a few brand new baby grows and a lovely pram suit so am really pleased with my goodies :D

    Dear small child
That's not a toy for you to play with, that's my bladder, please leave it alone, especially when it's full.
    Love mummy
