  • Tinks - I think induction and Csection both carry their worries. I am going to request an induction with epidural, but if you feel this could do you more damage it may be worth going straight for the Csection. I was 100% against Csections when pregnant with DD but then I was told she was big awkward breech and had no other option. On reflection it was nice knowing when baby would arrive, I was booked in for an 11.30am delivery on 20th May 09, and that is exactly when she arrived lol. I found that I was achey for the first week or so despite the painkillers, but have always found that painkillers dont really do much for me. At the time I felt that it was taking forever to heal but 3 weeks after the section I was driving. So on reflection I actually healed very quickly, but am sure part of that was down to OH being so helpful. What I will say is keep an eye on the wound, I ended up with antibiotics as I ended up with a mild infection despite cleaning it 2-3times a day (was paranoid as had never had an operation before.)

I would advise to batch bake and freeze meals/snacks to just defrost/reheat when required. But then would advise this for anyone with a LO on the way as it makes it so much easier the first couple of weeks.
Sorry for the ramble and I hope it is more of a help than just random jibber jabber.

well feeling a little more chilled today. got most of house ready for baby now and got a scan later today to check growth. Got to then see consultant but hopefully OH will be finished work in time and can come see little one. Also he can look after DS whilst being scanned as he behaves better with daddy around! Does anyone know if at 34 week scan whether or not i have to drink lots before - not sure my bladder would cope plus guessing they dont need help from bladder to see baby anymore- cant exactly miss it.

hope gems got a bed and is on way to getting her mummy cuddles

    FYI,
Boots website do really really easy printable birthplans - all the essential details on one piece of paper...unlike navigating the NHS Choices pregnancy care planner. That site will make you go

I am due my first elective c-section after two emergency c-sections and i can honestly say i am lookinbg forward to it. No waiting around for contractions to start, no wondering is this it, going to hosp and being told not in labour, no frantic phonecalls to DH.
I am also very optomistic about my recovery time as after my last c- section i was up and about hours later, no need for painkillers or anything.
My last c-section was lovely too, even though emergency, as i had the spinal and was very relaxed, the doctors chatted with me and DH filling us in on exactly what was happening at all times, the whole thing was lovely.
I think too often women are told that c-sections are the worst thing that can happen to you, but they really aren't, a well planned, organised c-section is just another birth experience, no better or worse than any other birth experience.
Also an emergency c-section does not always mean GA that is only if they have to get baby out very very quickly (quite rare).

Plus (my fave bit) no pelvic floor damage!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. That was a very positive response. :A

    QUESTION -

To all the ladies past & present that have have a sun roof -

Are they really that bad???? How do you feel ? Would you out of choice have one????

So many questions going on in my head to sort out before I see my consultant........

My Physio thinks that my SPD & having a epidural will not be a good idea as I may do more damage as I won't be able to feel the pain of my pelvis.......MY MW suggested induction @ 37 weeks so that baby is smaller........Or just to ask for a Sun roof from the outset......

(An epidural is my only pain relieft option )

Any help or advice would be great. Thanks

    Hi tinks

I had an emergency c with DS due to SPD not letting them examine me properly, so ended up pushing when not fully dilated, which was awful.

When they actually did the c though, it was like something out of Casualty, suddenly there were lots of people flooding in to do this and that, but they were all lovely and reassuring and talked me through what was going on.

The section was actually really interesting (!) and I'm glad I had one in the end - although, you are very painful later on and they make you walk to the loo about 12 hours later which makes you feel like you are going to explode!

But once you have done that its fine. You are obviously a bit tender and its difficult to lift things, but it wasn't as bad as I had feared - and of course, there was no SPD to contend with either, so bonus!!

Next time, I am going to try for a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarian), but depends if my SPD gets bad. If it does, I'm not going to risk another emergency C, I'll go Elective.

    Hope that helps!

SPD can linger after birth, it took almost a year for all my symptoms to go. The first 2 months after delivery were still challenging & then it came every month around the time of AF. I know others who have had lingering problems as well although we are in the minority it does happen so it's worth planning with this in mind.

Hi SLM no you do not need to drink any extra........we are at the same point, and in fact I go for a wee straight before as all that pushing around with the scanner makes me worry there will be a puddle :o :rotfl::rotfl:

GFH, monitoring as A) past c/s B) baby big for dates C) mummy big as well :o Mobile monitoring stuff as far as I can gather has packed up and nothing being replaced as maternity unit at my hosp in process of being closed :o

Having spoken to mum & doula, now v. tempted by TENS......what are the hiring costs like, as I know to buy they are about 30 squid in Boots? Are there different types? Are they easy to apply to yourself, as I am likely to be the only adult in the house when it is needed :o
  • Hi can i please be added on to the list - due 14/01/11:). After a miscarriage last christmas and early bleeding this pregnancy finally allowing myself to get excited.:j
