Basically it's a band of jersey(?), stretchy, legging type material that you can put on over your normal clothes to help make them last that bit longer before going all out and buying maternity clothes. I've been really lucky and only put weight on around my stomach so all my normal clothes still fit, so long as I use a bump band to help keep them up;)
When I wasn't so big I double folded them coz they didn't feel so secure but now I don't need to!...also helped me in the middle stages as I was getting used to the weight in the stomach as it's a tiny little bit of added support on my poor tummy muscles:)
I personally think they're fab, but I know they don't work as well for those who put weight on all over as it's not just the stomach you have to accomodate IYSWIM:) hth, also look at ebay...might be cheaper on there!

ah, so does that mean that you have your jeans undone and put the band over them to keep them up?

  • emsy think it is right, that they only get arsy if the lower number is radically raised, and 80 is exemplary.

Sometimes you have to go with the medics, even if you think theyr'e pillocks! Hugs.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

Emsy, I had pre-eclampsia with my first. I didn't get it this time around though I did have raised bp most of the way through this last pregnancy.

My BP went up to about 140/86 at the highest, I was told that they don't medicate you for it until it hits 150/100.

I was told by my dr that when you have your BP taken, it is important that they use the right size cuff for your arm (a cuff that's too small gives a higher bp reading). Also, don't talk while you have bp taken. Most importantly though, don't panic. Easier said than done I know.

My BP is back down to 120/70 now I've had the baby. PM me if you have any questions, I've had 9 long months of being prodded and poked by assorted drs and midwives.
