Me! It's called ECV. Most ladies choose C section over ECV as it's quite :eek::eek: and has its risks.

This was me, I said no! :D

Was offered with DD as she was breech on every scan from 20 weeks (from memory had them about every 4 weeks for the rest of the pregnancy)

As far as i could gather, it could be :eek::eek: and was only 50/50 likely to work, and they can just as easily turn back even if they do go head down! I was warned about the waters/labour thing as well.

That said, a C/S is not a picnic in the park either, so possibly 6 to one, half a dozen to another :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Advice required lovely ladies and bumps :p Just been midwife (35+4) and been told its breech and back to back - aren't I the lucky one :D Anyway I'm being sent for a scan Monday and I've been told that if its breech they'll want to do that injection to relax and turn the baby. Does anyone know anyone that had this done??? Only that they've told me to take my hospital bag as it can break your waters, and I'm tempted to say nah ah girlfriend, until my chap comes home from Afghan late next week. He would be devastated if he missed it by days!!
Stupid thing is I feel great at the moment, just naughty baby thats misbehaving :D
You don't have to have it done just because they suggest it... And they could be wrong about the breech yet anyway... Heads and bums feel pretty similar apparently :rotfl:

Someone down at the school stared at my belly and said "not long to go?!" today... Umm yeah... Loooooooooong time to go yet... Thanks though...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Crikey - vests as well?? So are these worn every day or just when its cold and they need to layer up?

Yes vests too for the first couple of months, as babies can have difficulty keeping their body heat, then it depends on the the weather and with our weather I would still say yes. My DD is 2.5 and only comes out of vests in June and back on again late September (they came out this Monday:p)

  • Wow thanks for all the replies ladies! I think I may opt out of the ECV thing and hope I can 'persuade' it to turn naturally. Going to start with handstands in the pool at the weekend  Will take my niece down with me so I don't look like a complete div, well more so than usual :D

    Morning everyone,
Welcome & Congrats:D I've added you to the EDD list on the previous page:)
How comes you're finishing work so early? Is it quite a manual job you have?? I'm sure we can all keep you busy while you're off any road:D

Thanks, and thanks to everyone else that has welcomed me.

I do have a manual job (construction), but I'm currently confined to desk duties, so that's not a huge issue.
While I'm on maternity leave I'll accrue 23 days of holiday, in order to get paid for that at the end of my ML I have to start it almost five weeks before the end of the holiday year this year (9th Jan), I then have over two weeks of holiday from this year still to take. That puts my last day of work as 19th November- only seven weeks from now and two months before my EDD!

Oh god, turning breech babies? I hadn't got to that bit in my What To Expect book- I saw the pictures of the different in-womb positions the other day and decided it was too scary to read as well!

Plymouth I might be breech too now (and I'm due same day as you) as kicks are being felt in wrong place and mw agreed. Met a woman at antenatal who had ECV and like Smartie said, it was very painful and didn't work.
I'm going to try and turn baby by using the breech tilt method - place 3/4 plump pillows under your bum to elevate hips, lying down on bed with bent knees and stay in position for two 10 minute sessions per day. It lifts and opens the pelvis and baby is floating due to gravity working against him/her. I did it last night and felt some sort of backlash but still not sure what positon they are in.:p

I'm also singing a few verses of Turn by Travis in desperation:rotfl:

Asheta Hello and welcome - hopefully your baby will be head down - apparently it's only like 4 % that are naughty and want to pop out differently.
  • Ticklepenny THANKS for the link to Spinningbabies. I'm on the case...
  • Hi Ladylegs - thanks for the tip - will try that one tonight too :D Its been in the right position all the way through then decides to turn now!! Naughty thing. I wondered if I did that bicycle pose with legs in the air and stuck a bag of frozen peas on my chest (where its head is), whether that would scare the thing down  Going to give it a whirl anyway. Most probably just do my back in :rotfl:
I realised I could feel all movement lower down too since the weekend, so had a feeling it had turned breech. Midwife couldn't feel for definite but the heartbeat could only be found under my ribs so thats why they think it is breech now. I guess the scan will reveal all Monday!
Not sure how you turn a back to back baby.....google time.........
  • Hmmn, bicycle kick with peas (will I ever say those in a sentence again).
Is this tried and tested? I'm not sure I could lift my own weight off the floor:o

What I'm worried about is my constant poking of bump to cajole a turn. Is this traumatic or comforting to the baby? Who knows!
I don't want to frighten them...even if it is a Halloween baby.

Anyway, good luck for scan on Monday. Still plenty of time for our naughty ones to get in position:p

    Morning Lady Bumps :D

Labour Vibes to all those in need.

Fingers crossed all the naughty breech babies get a wriggle on back the right way ;)

With DD we were spine to spine for a few weeks I remember having to go around on all fours to get her to get off my spine. It worked for me :o:p

I stocked up on the Raspberry Leaf & arnicia yesterday when my mummy helped me to take a trip into town. Trying to get around on the crutches is not easy and soooooooooo frustrating

It feels VERY odd to think that I am now off work and I do feel very gulity :o But I also realise that it is not my fault and I have to be selfish and think of me and bump now for the next 9 weeks and keep us safe & well as best I can. ;)

Tomorrow is more Physio & MW.

It was pleasing to read that birth really is the cure for my fellow SPD afflicated ladies :p;)

Can't wait for Saturday when I can start work on the Nursery :T
If you can think it........it will happen
