hdeusi - I go from west wickham (eden park these days actually as I get the bus there) to Lewisham and then to East india (near canary wharf) on the DLR. I am having the baby at Farnborough/PRUH or whatever it's called! I thin you're too gracious and it's more that people don't want to give up their seats than that they need them!
Yes, I know it my hubby worked near CW. I am having mine at QE in Woolwich.
Yes, I was only being polite to them!! LOL0 -
I haven't packed a towel for the baby because the last two times I have come home pretty quickly so baby had a bath when home. But am wondering whether I should now lol!
I just assumed I'd need one as we want a water birth. Plus, my hospital list says a baby bath/ top and tail bowl so assume will need a little towel for it. And I bought a special one with a little monkey on it so am determined to pack itBellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
Wow there's been a lot of talking to catch up on this morning and now I can't remember most of it!
Nice to have a new thread, thanks Nene!
I've never been bothered by the idea of a waterbirth, though reading all your chat today I'm being influenced by you all, I'm easily swayed:D:D
My tens machine has just arrived, how exciting, I need to spend some time figuring it all out:D
Lilian - that furniture looks really nice.
Nephthys - at the most I have 5 weeks tomorrow till I'm responsible for a brand new baby:eek::eek:
Fuzz - I sometimes have belly judders/large wobbles that I find amusing:D Baby always seems to stay head down though - not that I can tell by prodding - its the hiccups that I get really low down that confirm it for me, like I've got right now:D:D
We're off to my parents shortly when OH has got home, to collect all the stuff in their garage that by brother has donated to our baby cause. We're getting their old cot, pushchair, car seat, baby bath, monitor, plus a few clothes, toys blankets etc. I'm so lucky and so grateful that we've not had to fork out for all that stuff.0 -

Becareful with Bank Hols as I am NOT getting mine on top of my holiday allowance. It is not a set rule that you have to be given extra days for Bank Hols. Only your annual leave.
Also a point to note is that the last part of the 52 weeks leave that is unpaid means that if your employer pays your pension that they are not liable to make your contributions for the unpaid part of your leave. I have just found this out after a meeting with my boss
Yep, I believe you don't get any renumeration after 9 months. However I was told by HR that you HAD to have 28 days leave a year including BHs so that's how many they had to pay me for, minimum. This is regardless of how many holiday days you get minus BHs - the minimum a full time member of staff can get in that case is 20 days plus BHs.
This also seems to validate that:
The basics of holiday rights
There is a minimum right to paid holiday, but your employer may offer more than this. The main things you should know about holiday rights are that:- you are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (28 days for someone working five days a week)
- part-time workers are entitled to the same level of holiday pro rata (so 5.6 times your usual working week, eg 22.4 days for someone working four days a week)
- you start building up holiday as soon as you start work
- your employer can control when you take your holiday
- you get paid your normal pay for your holiday
- when you finish a job, you get paid for any holiday you have not taken
- bank and public holidays can be included in your minimum entitlement
- you continue to be entitled to your holiday leave throughout your ordinary and additional maternity leave and paternity and adoption leave
I would follow up on that tink as you might be getting shortchanged?
Lilian - that furniture looks really nice.

Thanks. I have done some research on this and it seems that bank hols are a very grey area. And basicaly it comes down to the fact that you are on leave and being paid smp and that for most employers this means that you DO NOT get extra days for bank hols when on mat leave. I have heard that some companies give them as extra but my holiday is 15 days ( i work 3 days a week so 5 weeks a year) and I just get 15 days leave or 5 weeks to take at the end of my maternity leave as paid holiday. I can carry over a max on 1 week into 2012.If you can think it........it will happen0 -
