hdeusi - where do you commute? I also use southeastern and the dlr. I am relatively big now at 33 weeks and usually get a seat on dlr but usually grudgingly. I do now ask people as I just can't stand.

TMI = too much information (no such thing on this thread!)
    SPD = symphysis pubis dysfunction

God I'm grumpy today...I feel like murdering the person who keeps talking to himself!

Think I am also going to try and post more often, I do check everyday but there is always so much info I forget to reply LOL.

Can someone tell me what TMI and SPD stand for? (Sorry!).

Im officially 27 weeks on Thursday so very excited, although my bump is still small, and I regularly get asked if I am 4 months or so! Also no seat on the trains, south eastern commuters are very selfish!

I am also hoping to have a waterbirth :j

I suppose a shiny new thread is a good a time as any to join in. I'm 24 weeks with my second, I was a founding member of Baileys first pregnancy club well over 3 years ago.

I've just been signed off work for a fortnight with severe SPD, not sure if I'll be going back at all the way I'm feeling at the moment.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Thanks lilian1977 and rach - want sure how to quote you both!

Rach - I commute from Mottingham - near Lee. It isnt too far, as its 10 mins to London Bridge and I usually get a seat there. People see my badge and quickly look away, so I guess they must need the seat more than me!

I am actually still OK standing at the moment, just would be nice to be offered! Am thinking of sending one of those texts to the Metro, as some of the people at my stop push past me to get on...might embarass them a little.

Where are you commuting from? Where are you having your baby?

Hi Welshlassie, you have my sympathies! I don;t seem to be as badly off as some folk thankfully although now have the belt and crutches to get around. Mine has been diagnosed as Pelvic Girdle Pain (although doc called it something else). Not sure what that all entails but I know the pain is at the front and the back. Makes me waddle like a wee duckie! Very amusing for my DH til I threaten him with said crutches!

    Hi to hdeusi as well!

"You will build up all your entitlements to paid holiday through all of your Statutory Maternity Leave. This is even if your contract says you are entitled to more than the statutory minimum.

You can add holiday to the beginning or end of your Statutory Maternity Leave. You may not be able to carry over untaken holiday entitlement if your Statutory Maternity Leave goes over two holiday years. It is often best to take this at the beginning of your leave."

Basically, your employment rights (like holidays and pension contributions) are all protected, apart from your wage. So yes, you should be entitled to them. You will also get paid for 28 days holiday minimum, depending on how many you get normally. I get 25 so the 7 BHs I'm missing are being added on, but your employer only has to pay you for 28 even if you have 28 days holiday. I have checked and as there isn't enough time to take my holidays at the start of my leave, they have to roll them over for me :D

Becareful with Bank Hols as I am NOT getting mine on top of my holiday allowance. It is not a set rule that you have to be given extra days for Bank Hols. Only your annual leave.

Also a point to note is that the last part of the 52 weeks leave that is unpaid means that if your employer pays your pension that they are not liable to make your contributions for the unpaid part of your leave. I have just found this out after a meeting with my boss

    Cool a shiny new thread.

Rach - I am grumpy today as well. Though mines cause I have no patience (hurry up baby) and am tired. Have got to the point in bed, where I can sleep for a few hrs, but wake up when I need to turn over. By which point I have seized up. Have to get up and have a wander to loosen up before going back to sleep. Then cycle starts all over again.

Quick question - Do I need to take a towel for baby? I remember someone mentioning one, but I havent seen them listed on any hospital lists.

I haven't packed a towel for the baby because the last two times I have come home pretty quickly so baby had a bath when home. But am wondering whether I should now lol!

hdeusi - I go from west wickham (eden park these days actually as I get the bus there) to Lewisham and then to East india (near canary wharf) on the DLR. I am having the baby at Farnborough/PRUH or whatever it's called! I thin you're too gracious and it's more that people don't want to give up their seats than that they need them!
