MV relax, worry won't get the baby moving, did you say you had an anterior placenta, this can make them harder to feel and I really don't think I felt much till after I had had my second scan which was 23+2 and even then I've had 2 already so know what I'm feeling if that makes sense. Mention it to the midwife if you are not feeling anything then though because I could deff feel movements by my 25 week appointment because when she tried for the heartbeat I said I would panic less since I could feel baby.

    Anyone?

I'm getting myself worked up about it :(
If you're getting yourself worked up then I would see a midwife so you can hear the heartbeat. If you look on Babyandbump there are a few threads of people saying they never felt baby till gone 24 weeks. However I know if you were me I'd be worrying a lot. ((hugs))

Crashing from under 12 weeks, suffering really badly from insomnia, will this pass, any one else suffered in first trimester?
    Pawpurrs x ;)
  • pawpurrs - I can only go by OH as she's the one carrying, but yes, she can get very tired very easily and be awake during the night as well. I think it's natural, whether physical or mental worry.
  • Ok thanks. I've just had so much time off recently I don't really want to have to take more unless absolutely necessary. Plus my doctor is on the other side of London.

I just thought I would at least be able to feel something by now. I do have an anterior placenta so that's prob partly why. It's just that the couple of other pregnant women here at work are both feeling loads of movement now, one is a couple of weeks ahead of me but she has been feeling her baby move for weeks.

MV - I didn't feel the baby til later and I didn't even have an anterior placenta. BUT if you are concerned phone MW to put your mind at rest.

Have been out for coffee with friend, helpful chat and advice about getting my head in order about the birth and how to tackle consultant appointment, questions to ask etc. Need to write some stuff down. She also brought some bits her hubby had got from Ikea for me including nappy bin. But I feel totally exhausted now so am going to put my feet up and maybe try and sleep.

  • Oh MV, try not to panic and if you are getting stressy, phone your community midwife....they should be able to put you at ease.

Was it you who mentioned having an anterior placenta??? This could be why you aren't feeling bubs as much - and if it is low-lying this also has an affect on movements too...your baby is squirrelled away and having some me time but as he grows, you'll be loving those kicks to the bladder and upper cuts just under your ribcage. You see. x

Fuz Is it a coincidence that I decide to delurk and then all this pain down below starts up? Merfe - definitely feels like a kicking down there:eek: and I just hope it is manageable as not much I can do til bubs is born. Annoyingly, the more active I am, the more I start walking like a cowboy.
  • Thanks. At the 20 week scan the sonographer said my placenta was high.

I dont have a community midwife. I guess I could just phone my GP and see if I can speak to a doctor there..?

It may or may not be an issue for you, but I had smaller meals but more frequently (than one large tea at 6) so my now sluggish digestive system could work more efficiently and therefore I could sleep better.

Is your GP local? They might be able to listen for a heartbeat to put your mind at ease?
