TMI question alert!
For ladies with experience of it, when your cervical plug came away, was it a green/yellow colour? I have had a small amount of that colour on a pantliner and just curious if it could be the plug coming away very slowly?? Third pregnancy but never had any sign in previous two of the plug coming away....
Thanks and sorry!:)

on a similar subject, I am hoping to BF but SiL has advised also taking some formula in hospital bag...what do other people think/experiences?
when i was in with my first, the hospital provide formula if you didn't say you wanted to breastfeed, you wouldn't need to take your own
I also mixed expressed bottle feeds in with bf and found the tt closer to nature stuff excellent......they also do special bf dummies to prevent 'nipple confusion' (!!!) apparently0 -
It is possible to express feed but it's very difficult to keep a good supply... The baby is much better at emptying you and encouraging milk flow...
Merfe, It might look like there's nothing there but in the first 3-5 days there is colostrum which is a very concentrated breastmilk, very high in calories... I would encourage more regular feeds rather than a formula top up as that will help your milk come in and be less likely to stretch the baby's tummy...
I'd say the same to anyone thinking of topping up, calorie for calorie, there is a lot more in breastmilk than there is in formula so the baby needs less breastmilk. Formula feeds tend to stretch their tummy early on. Also, every time you give the baby formula, there is one less feed for your body to have the signal to make milk for, and like a viscious circle, once your body isn't making milk for that feed, you start to feel like you're not making enough milk and add more formula... Meaning your body misses more feeding signals...
And one more thing... Formula tends to sit in the stomach longer than breastmilk which is digested very easily which is why breastfed babies need to feed a bit more often than formula fed babiesA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi everyone, congrats to smartie, horse and bunny. I went to the hospital yesterday for my check up and to get a date for my c section. We thought it would be around the 28 September so was in shock  when i was told that i would be having c section on 23 September. I am excited that baby will be here soon, also in shock that its less than two weeks.
I will be in hospital for two nights, what things will i need to take, need to get my bag packed.Married 09/09/090 -
good that you have the date MS12, is that at 39 weeks? SOmeone told me that's when they tend to do planned sections. Can i ask why you're having one, if you don't mind? I am trying to learn more about it as it's possible I might have to have one.
Just had a bacon sandwich for lunch, yum. Waiting for plumber to come back, he really better come back today as everything is in a mess and needs sorting out!
DH has just phoned to say he has got through to the final interview stage for the possible new job so fingers crossed. Just between him and one other person now.
re formula: my hosp don't provide it though I guess they would in an emergency and there's a sainsburys next door! I think I will not buy any as it will help me persevere with BF!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Hi rach, they said that it would be at 39 weeks thats why we thought it would be about the 28 September, the c section is been done when im 38 +2 weeks. I have had c section before thats why im having one this tiime. Are they going to discuss with you about having c section, i know that you were due just before me. Thats great about your dh interview, will keep my fingers crossed and hope that he gets the job. Bacon sandwich sounds yummy.
I started a list of all the things i wanted to do in the house like cleaning skirting boards, before baby is born, which i haven't started so need to get a move on and start today.Married 09/09/090 -

Mine do not either rach but I have bought some, a set of disposable bottles teats and mix, it is what tehy had in hosp when I had DD.
The only reason for this is that I had a tricky c/section and did not wake til DD had already needed 2 feeds....then I was dozy for about 24 hours so I had to FF.0 -

@Chakani - hope you don't mind me quoting you here from the disposable vs washable thread. But I didn't want to take it too much off topic. I wanted to ask you a few more questions...I use washables (Gizmodo has encountered my slightly evangelical views on this already, sorry Giz), so I am biased in that direction. I have spent about £175 on my set-up, including buckets etc. This will take both my toddler and unborn baby through to potty training, and the number of washes I do depends on the age of the child (and therefore how many nappies they go through). At most it was every other day, at 40 degrees, usually air-dried, although I sometimes finish them off in the drier if it's raining and I run out of hanging space in our tiny house. Now I just have a toddler who is on the verge of being ready for potty training, I wash every 3 days, and always air-dry as there are fewer nappies to find room for. I use cheap value washing powder as my family don't have sensitive skin, and I use Napisan in the nappy washes.
Also you say you use value washing powder. I use this now, have been for years now. But have bought non-bio for the baby as everyone has told me to do so. Can babies use bio powder then, or just when they get older?
Right, going to look up napisan now.Baby Giz born 6/2/110
