Wow pukkamum - that is a bargain. :T

@don - where are the home birthing programs? Sky? Are there any on freeview? I can't wait for One Born Every Minute to come back...although last time I looked it was due to be around February - so I'll either scare myself silly or it'll be after I've given birth.

i did watch it on sky - although I cannot stand the american ones so I only watch if they are about uk births - the american ones are so over dramatised its really annoying.

I watched "one born every minute" and also watched one called "babes in the wood" which was uk based. The one i mentioned was called "Home birth diaries" which is generally quite good.

I watched Discovery home and health & there are some on sky 3 from time to time.

  • Just popping my head out to say Hi.

Hope your all doing ok, I havn't been on for so long it would take days to catch up, sorry. Gratz to the new arrivals though.

Just need to vent something as I have no female friends and my DH is my bestmate and can't really talk to him as he's the problem. I am pregnant and hormonal and yes he keeps pointing out Im pregnant and Im beeing hormonal and "throwing my toys out of the pram" quite often because if something does not go the way I want it to I can't cope with trying to work out what needs to be done to correct it. I shall give you an example, I go into the shop to buy a cake for 3.65 and need to put gas on my gas card, you can only do that by paying cash so I need to get cash back on my card to do this, but I also need to spend 5.00 to use my card, cue "oh, forget about it" and waltz out of shop almost in tears to my DH asking what was wrong then him having a go for me acting like a child. aghhhhhhh this happens on a daily bases and is wearing pretty thin with both of us. I cant help that I act like that (I've tried) but couldnt he be a bit more sympathetic and not tell me ive just been an idiot and make me feel even worse? Am I wrong here??

Thanks, I feel slightly better already.

It's bonkers isn't it. I seriously can't believe I had the same due date as Xmas and Pigpen and their babies are getting on to being 1 month old. Your babe (Smartie) was originally due on my birthday, I can't believe there is even a possibility now we could have them on the same day!

Mine is a month old today.. sorry :(

Nope nope and nope to the pants lady :D:D Stick to what ya got. so long as the elastic does not go where the section line is.........aim for the elastic to run along tummy button line if that makes more sense.

I had my c/s on the Friday and came home on the Wednesday......:o

I agree re the knix.. biiiig granny panties for at least a month!!

I kind of insisted on going home so they were either to discharge me or I was discharging myself..

DD3 I was in 3 nights, DD5 I was in 2 nights.. DD4 was in SCBU so we were in a week.

got up again about 11 in the end, just lounged in bed reading etc. Been for a greasy spoon lunch and plan to keep my (swollen) feet up for the rest of the day!

Thanks for all the comments on fabric, I'm so indecisive! I had chosen a lovely one but it was a knit so no good for washing etc!

Rach - did they say when they would do a birth plan with you? at my last hosp appointment was with the consultant and he didnt mention it and i dont have another appointment until the day before im due. although they did give me the birth plan page, might have a read of it later and see if i can fill it in myself. p.s love the fabrics for the bag :D
No, they didn't. It felt like she was quite conscious of time as was 5 mins late in (the other one is much later). I think I am going to use my mum as a sounding board this week about it and then discuss it with DH when I have my own head straight. I'm working on the assumption she's wrong about the breech for now, but if the baby really is very big I am going to ask for a planned section. I know not ideal but after SiL getting her 10lb5oz baby stuck and needing pelvis manipulated and then stitches in theatre I'm too scared to take the chance, esp with SPD and my hip history.

Rach - where did you get the pattern to make a changing bag, I would like to have a go. Love the fabric choice by the way!!

I've had my triple tests through the post today and I'm happy to say that I'm low risk at 1 in 380, its such a relief!

I'm now going to try to stand and iron in the name labels in DD school stuff, back/hips willing!!
It's an onbag, linky you can buy them made but also the woman lets the pattern be used as long as bags are not being sold. My SiL is making it for me, she's a fab seamstress (used to work for a designer) - there's some of her other bags here

can you sit to iron? I did the other day.

My midwife said if its actually the baby thats big she will refer me to the consultant to discuss being induced, but realisticly i wont be scanned til next week 37 weeks, not back to midwife until 38 weeks - so unlikely to see a consultant until 39 weeks - so its unlikely they will induce me early, but maybe just not let me go over. which would be good!!
Hope you get the birth you want - maybe bring it up with your midwife sooner rather than later, i wish we had discussed it 2 weeks ago!!
The MW I saw and also the receptionist said come into the antenatal clinic at the hospital straight after scan and one of the MWs will see me straight away - is there a chance you could do the same.

I should get finger out bum and join the baby clubs. my mum joined one read learn and play or something and she was sent a soft cube thats about 8 inches and has lots of textures for the kids and nursery rhymes embroidered on it. Our just turned 2 year old has claimed it as hers though. It was a real quality gift though.

    Is it this one?

Just joined up so thanks for the tip!

Had a rubbish lunch today, found some bags of Birds Eye Cheese tortellini and Ham tortellini in Tesco's freezer section for 25p each - bought loads. The cheese one tastes like Wotsits! I'm not normally a ready meal girl but that just seemed ridiculously cheap!

    Bought this as well today:

It's a first nursery collection of books, £9.99 for 10, I think it has 30 stories. Also bought the Roald Dahl set for £15.99.

They're fantastic - I spent £27 there on DD1's birthday and she had a whacking great box full of new books :money:

Thanks for this Rach, I'm going to have a go, I'll let you know how it turns out. Those other bags are really nice too. :)

I tried to sit to do the ironing Monday and kept sliding off the stool and I kept leaning forward too much making me feel more uncomfortable. Luckily it wasn't much, just the labels in DD's school uniform. I have kept it to a minimum and I had plenty of breaks.

My MIL has been doing the ironing for me but she is on hoilday in Greece this week and I would feel guilty if she come back from her holidays and she had all our ironing to do as well as her own. I did ask DH to do some but I might as well of asked him to donate a kidney!! :rotfl:
