Here you are, MI3 and MV, a boring birth story, for balance:
"Contractions started gently at midnight, slept as best I could. During the day, contractions slowly got stronger and more frequent. Went to hospital at 10pm. Declared in labour at 10.45. More contractions, proper labour ones. Yes, they hurt. Gas and air is wonderful. So is Pethidine. Taken to delivery suite 1.15am, Oliver born 1.30am. Yes, it hurt.
It was scary not knowing what to expect, but your body knows what it's doing. The weirdest part for me was in the shower the next morning, discovering I had a swollen cauliflower for a foof, but that soon went down.
I hope that balances some of the traumatic stories0 -
I sooooo can't wait until they invent man pregnancy... and I don't mean the "having sympathy pain" type pregnancy I MEAN MAN CARRYING/HAVING A BABY!!!
Labour is horrendous... all those stories are TRUE and not exaggerated;):p:rotfl:
I AM IN PAIN:mad::mad::mad: Aren't I supposed to be exchanging labour pains for being sliced opened pains??? I'm having awfullllll lower back pains:mad::mad::mad: That is why I'm telling it straight.... cos I want you all to suffer!!!!:p:p:p:p:p:rotfl:
It's constant pain so I'm guessing I'm not in actual labour??? I WILL make it through til Tues without having to rush in for emergency section!
My friend was texting whilst her DD was having an MRI scan. I don't think it's likely they'll be out of Bristol hospital in time for bubs:( It would be good if they got transfered back to the hospital I'll be in.BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -

Well done pukka.
Hope it works soon for you lillianMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Smartie, that sounds really awful, it must drag even worse when you know exactly when it's going to happen.
LilacPixie, yes, you're a freak, but can I have your secret please?
The invention I would like is a fast forward button. Obviously I'd be totally altruistic and press it for Courgette first (if she still needs it) and then for Smartie, but I don't like being pregnant, and I'd like to fast forward first to when we get keys to our new house, and then right to the end please. God, I'm going to be a nightmare by the end - I don't really even have a bump yet :rotfl:0 -
OMG the prices normally but did order a new sheet for DD bed and some socks for baby for £5.20 so not too bad a price.
Lilian have you got at least 1 full price item in your basket?? won't work on JUST sale items hth x
ETA: I feel so guilty when I hear the troubles some of you have with pregnancy:o but it does make me appreciate how lucky I am:D
Oh and a quick Q re: ebay, when would you class 3 working days as up?? I paid for an item I won wednesday night on Thursday morning(around 10am) so would that be classed as working day 1????
Just wondering as when I've sold stuff I try and get it all sorted asap and this idiot, according to ebay, hasn't even posted it yet!

I don't watch it, but I did see this bit and wondered why her consultant/dr or whoever that was was letting her breathe into her gas and air tube like she was hyperventilating. Rubbish! Here you are, MI3 and MV, a boring birth story, for balance:

Thanks! Yes it does.
Had my scan, at just under 37 weeks baby is 5lbs so quite small but not as bad as they thought would be - they reckon it should be a 7lber by the time it's born.
A bit upset that because of my bp I'm now not allowed a water birth and they won't let me in the birth centre instead I have to be in the delivery suites which aren't as comfy. Ah well, the important thing is that me and baby are OK I suppose.Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
Hi all
I'm finished!! Thanks for all the good wishes. Managed to get more or less everything done and just got to mw on time. My team had got me a card and £40 mothercare voucher which was nice of them. Boss left at lunchtime without saying bye but think he is just thoughtless and totally fed up of working there.
Managed to get one day a week of cover agreed before I went which was a relief. Have thought of a couple of minor things i didn't do but will email to my colleague later and he'll take care of them.
Also spoke to people there's a chance of me getting a job with longer term and they have me in mind and a few things on the horizon, which is great.
So all very positive in the end (this was after a bad start when I threw up this morning in my haste to eat breakfast and clean my teeth at 6.30am and then twisted my ankle getting off the bus.
Been to midwife, another different one which is a bit of a pain, guess it's still holiday time. Anwyay, she was nice enough but didn't seem to want to discuss birth options which I'd expected we would today.
She thinks baby might be breech and is also a bit concerned as I'm measuring 38 at 35+6 so wanted me to get a scan. So she tried to book scan. Couldn't get through to beckenham ante natal, so tried the main hosp scan place
they said they are full and have a backlog, so will phone me by the end of next week to make appt. I wasn't really happy with this but she just said 'it's out of your and my hands'. Fine i think, til the baby decides to come!
So I got home and phoned beckenham again, lovely receptionist there said I was on the list but there had just been a cancellation so as I'd phoned and was a bit upset she fit me in for wed
Feel happier with that. Lovely receptionist also said did I want to speak to another midwife on the phone, and that I can pop across to ante natal clinic after scan and someone will see me. Don't know if DH will come with me, not massive point really but will see what he says.
lovely pics dream, but it makes me realise how massive i am! Will get a photo later
krystal - I do the same and write stuff on a post it note.
glad you got out lilac
budget - hope all is well, see from fb they let you out!
courgette - poor you, am not surprised you're so fed up now
hitchins - DH wants me to have a private room too, must ask next time about it. forgot today...must write it down!
Gems -glad i'm not the only one who hasn't thought about a birth plan
sorry for epic post, lots been buzzing around my head I guess! Now have my swollen feet up, pizza for dinner. Healthy eating restarts next week when i should have time to cook decent meals.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
