Good morning ladies (and gents lurking!)

I have some nursery furniture questions. We have found:

    A changing table
    A cot bed
    A wardrobe
    A toy box

On the Mothercare website, should be £629 but we've got it down to £440 with clever discount codes and bundle offers, with free delivery.

However, I am only 18+1. Do you think I should go for it or leave it a bit longer? I'm worried that the offers will have finished by the time I feel safer in this pregnancy - but similarly, how depressing would it be to have all that in the spare room if anything goes wrong? What would you do?

Also, does anyone know if the 20% off bundles of nursery furniture on Mothercare.com is a permanent thing or will it be ending any time soon?

    Thanks xx

Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.

Thanks ejecoms, I will try some paracetemol. Usually lying down helps but today it's really bad. I just want a cuddle from DH but he'll be asleep for hours yet.

Rach have you tried heat, I know we are in the middle of summer, but I find a head pack/hot water bottle really reliefs the pain while I'm using it, just to get a bit of a break from it. Perfectly safe in pg aswell, I don't go anywhere without my heat pack at the moment (as a result know how to use all my friends microwaves. lol)
Right rang up labour ward and we aRe making our way in, so hopefully a baby should be here soon . .

Fingers crossed for you Sir M. :D

I have another day trying to keep ds quiet as dh on nights, have no energy to get washed, dressed and out, also trying not to spend any money, no motivation whats so ever.

It's awful trying to entertain kids quietly especially when you're feeling rotten/tired/down. Do you have any family/close friends nearby that you could go to just to get you out of the house? When I'm feeling down (have suffered with depression and pnd) I find the last thing I want to do is get washed dressed etc, but always feel a little bit better after I have. Especially if I have to go somewhere so I have to put my "face/mask" on for a few hours.

Hope you're feeling better really soon.

DH has bought everything for a packed lunch and we're off to St Fagans later for the day with some friends. I'm really suffering with the pain this morning, struggling to walk even, but St Fagans have the wheelchairs so going to make use.

Am very p***ed off with the council as they have turned down my blue badge application saying its because I have a temporary condition, but that didn't stop them giving me one with my last pregnancy and only leavingit valid for 12 months. I'm worse this time and can barely walk, where as at least I managed on crutches last time. How can they be so inconsistent?? :(

Lilian if you're happy with the deal then there's no reason I can think of not to go ahead but if it were me...I'd wait til the new autumn/winter collection is in...the ones you want may come down in price then:p:D

Right off the be productive and try not to have a nap before 12pm:p:)

  • Thought I should add myself to the list at last!

Hope everyone's inductions are going to plan.

Wasn't sick this morning :j. Doing really well today until DH came and cuddled up to me on the sofa and breathed coffee fumes on me. Instant vomitous feeling. I'm now just sitting down trying to keep breakfast down. I really really want a sick free day. It'll be the first in weeks if I can manage it.

Those cakes are hideous! Who wants a slice of baby's head

Have a plan for today - sort out all our clothes (we've been living out of suitcases for 18 months) into our new wardrobe and chest of drawers and make cake for a garden party I hope to be able to go to tomorrow (sickness permitting). Lots of other nesting urges going on too (cleaning, sorting, tidying)

DH is out in the garden building the shed (bricks and mortar).

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

  • Wl - Thanks fro your reply, I dont have family nearby, also every thing I need to get ready is in the bedroom, normally I get it all out in another room the night before but was just too tired last night, most of my friends are busy cos of long weekend, and ds is toliet training so trying not to go to far from the loo! I may try in a bit to get sorted, the thing is I make myself feel worse cos so much needs doing all over the house and it just hasn't been done as I was so unwell in the first 4months, so I just don't start anything, dh must be fed up of living ina pigsty!

Sorry the council aren't playing ball, it amazes me who they do give help to, and yet soetimes those in most need don't get it! Hope you enjoy St fagans.
  • Confuzzled - I love your countdown of ML etc I may have to copy you!

Sorry for the moan earlier, I managed to get back to sleep on and off til 10.30ish :) and feel better for it.

DH seems to be in a better mood and has sanded the baby's windowsill, he's going to paint it later. I'm going to wash all the net curtains (not my choice to have them as we rent but on a main road we do need them) and hope they don't shrink in the wash! I want to get the cot and moses basket made up this weekend.

I haven't tried heat, physio said to try ice. I'll try and get a heat pack today...DH is being sent to boots to get me some more stretch mark oil (i lurve the sanctuary one)...so I will ask him to look. Where did you get yours from? I can only see those one use ones online.

re blue badge - To be honest it probably just depends on who reviews your blue badge application, it will just be a team of people at the council. I'd phone up your local council and ask to speak to someone in the team, it's worth a try.

thinking of sir m and the other induction ladies.

  • Thanks for all the nice comments about my tiles and washing machine, but what about my blooming bump????!! ;):rotfl:

I've only just got up too. OH went off to work for a few hours, so decided I deserved a lie in. Going out in the garden now whilst it's sunny to chop back some of my flower borders..everything's gone mad with all the rain!
