Bought Sky HD after Oct 2009?
As one of the very grateful people who took advantage of joining sky (totally new subscriber) via MSE deals, remember that from October you will lose HD channels that are not in your standard pack UNLESS you give customer services a call, they'll then adjust your package to keep all your current HD channels until the 12 months is up
Please note that not all departments in Sky are aware of this extension as its not part of their training on this change apparently, so be kind and persevere and customer services should get you sorted
many many thanks again to the original poster for the sky pack deal
Cheers

Hi can you explain what you mean here, I have HD but am not sure what channels I will loose I can only access the HD channels that I have the subscriptions for ie I can't access HD movies as I don't have sky movies so what else will I lose from October?
Thanks0 -
This is an extract from a Sky letter...
We are changing the way we offer our HD channels by aligning them with your Sky TV digital subscription. For example, to enjoy great dramas on Sky1 in high definition, you would need to have the Variey Pack which includes Sky1. This change will take place on or around 5th October 2010.
Whilst you are within your minimum contract term, you can keep the additional HD channels which you currently have access to, if you contact us to have these added for the remainder of your minimum term.
Just rang sky and been told nothing has to be done. Things will stay the same until you complete 12 months (the minimum term), and then yes it will change to be specific to the pack(s) that you have.0 -
so not only are sky charging us £10 for HD, they now want to charge more by making you subscribe to the relevant pack:mad:Take every day as it comes!!0

No they are not charging more, if you already have a package that for example includes movies then you will still get movies.
All they are saying is that if the channel you want to see isnt included in your package then you need to upgrade the package which is the same as it is now.
Well thats how I read it but I could be wrong?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I tried to do this recently. Got some clueless operative who didn't know anything about it. Said she would find out, kept me on hold for 10 minutes then just hung up on me.
I have to say that ordinarily I find sky to be very friendly, but just goes to show.
Thanks for the advice to persevere0 -

how i read it from that letter is, at the moment the customer can watch sky1 hd, but as from october if they do not subscribe to the variety pack, then they will no longer be able to watch sky 1 hd, hence why i said they want you to pay more money, as i take it you cant upgrade to the variety pack for free, i just think it is a con personally, we pay our £10 for HD, so in my opinion that should allow us to watch all the HD channels that sky do, regardless whether or not we subscribe to each individual pack.Take every day as it comes!!0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I do wonder if this package alignment is heading towards HD being free on Sky in response to freeview HD... hopefully it'll be free by the time i have to start paying for it lol
I did have to spend a good half hour on the phone and politely not take no for an answer to get this extension, no fault of the nice operators its just they hadn't been told about it0 -
 I received this letter too, rang up to say I wanted to stay on my existing terms until the end of my contract but was told I would have to pay an extra £3/month! Surely they can't do that - I signed up to get certain channels for £10/month, and now they are saying I have to pay more!?! Any advice greatly appreciated...I've told them I'll call them back.0

So you think you should get HD sports and HD movies for £10 a month?
I wish0
