Thank you again, that is more civilised.
As already stated I am a novice investor in his dotage who does not want to be defrauded but neither do I want to be misled.
Does anyone out there have knowledge of a single case of Stirling's failure to deliver?
I am already a victim of internet fraud by the scammers offering "free" trials of wonder health products, postage only, only to find later credit card deductions based on some unarguable (by the credit card companies judgement) automatic payment charges.
Stirling have certainly been about for some while, if there are victims they should certainly be out there.
Regards

What's their registration number with the FSA?“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
They don't have one? Have you checked their website? It's so obviously dodgy that it's not funny.
normansands is, of course, linked to it.
an innocent investor 'in his dotage' my a**e
I didn't bother to check, it's clear they don't have one. I just wanted to see how he wriggled out of it“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

There is a legitimate authorised company, based in Aberystwith, called Sterling Asset Management Ltd. There is another, unauthorised, company calling itself Sterling Asset Management which the FSA warns against, here.0 -

How did a random happy customer of Stirling Asset Management manage to get hold of your contact details and email you saying how great they are?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
You seem intent, if not obstinate, in your pursuit of this 'investment opportunity'.
As a naive potential investor asking for advice, you then totally ignore all of it.
You may simply like winding people up, although the occasional and obvious slip up is not good practice.
There are many people on this Forum who are far from financially well off or secure, including pensioners who can ill afford to follow misguided advice or be misled in any other way, deliberately or otherwise.
Some naive souls may well feel that a 12% return, or similar, is too good to be true, but in hard times be tempted nonetheless.
Notwithstanding your self proclaimed old age and dotage, the articulate way in which you express yourself and your obvious intelligence suggests that we can both come to the same inevitable conclusion, as many have before, that high returns equate to high risk and that whatever else may lay behind this, it is too good to be true.
A quick browse on the internet confirms that you are not the only person, if that's the correct choice of words, interested in raising the possible merits of this particular 'investment opportunity',
On at least one Forum the thread was deleted although there are always other Forums available of course.
Others far more financially experienced than I have discredited your thread, and you personally, and they hopefully will persuade others less well informed to avoid any involvement with this organisation which you are obsessed with.
Given your obvious intellect and ability, why not consider a more positive and worthwhile approach by trying to help others, less able, to conserve their finances and even improve their circumstances.
You could actually make some legitimate income in the process and I hope you do well if you see the light.
You might then suggest that if this hidden gem of financial benevolence is as good as you hoped it might be, the whole financial community would be flocking to them pleading to be allowed to invest their savings, or ill gotten gains as the case may be.0 -

Still waiting for you to enlighten us about how you were contacted by a happy customer of Sterling Equity Hedge fund yet still feel the need to ask us for advice despite ignoring all the advice given so far.General rule of thumb when it comes to investing. You will not go wrong if you follow and one of these:
1 - Never invest on the basis of a firm cold calling you.
2 - Never invest if they are on the FSA warning list
3 - Never invest if they are not FSA authorised.
1 of those is bad enough. You have all three in this case.
PS I found their website and promptly had to find a sick bag - ABout the company
Everyone that works with or invests in Sterling Equity, becomes part of our family, it’s not just about investment, for me Sterling represents so much more, it’s a living breathing creation, that is constantly growing and maturing.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Got a result, Sterling Equity you've been busted!
From the work that I do dealing with scam and fake model agencies I have to do lots of checking on images. Had a quick look at the Sterling Equity Hedge fund site and their Staff page.
Amazingly their staff images are lifted from Getty Images. Bet they didnt pay for them either...
Lyle Powell their CEO

is actually "Portrait of mature businessman" stock image with Getty

Their VP is "Portrait of a Happy Businessman"

Need any more proof Norm?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Many thanks for the various contributions.
I am of course bemused by the last one, stunned in fact.
I have mailed it to Daniel Walker the Sales/portfolio agent and Roger Muncey the existing client to ask for an explanation.
It was Daniel who put Roger forward as an existing long standing client to be contacted.
Best Regards
