i have to say tho, and i have prob missed some of TR's 'better' posts, that sometimes i do read something and think ' well you did get yourself into that situation and now you want to escape the consequences somehow etc etc'. I don't post it tho because i'm not into conflict and who am i to poor misery and scorn to an already misfotunate person and situation? TR clearly doesn't give a damn who it upsets and so posts away. also, it's much easier to maintain TR's attitude when it is sat in a very smug and comfortable position, untroubled by debt and in a job where TR has to deal with ppl all day long who he/she probably has little or no respect for. so it comes on here and finds the same kind of ppl here and so continues the disrespect. all it really shows is his lack of empathy and understanding with the world at large, and so i just feel rather sorry for him cos that's a pretty horrible situation to be in when you can't relate/understand/empathise with so many fellow people. ah well.
No need to feel sorry for me at all. Firstly I haven't worked in the DCA field for a while now - I actually run my own business in a completely unrelated field and keep 8 people in full time employment so feel quite comfotable about my place and contribution to society. I have been asked to do some mortgage counselling visits in my area by a company I know and I may do it to keep my hand in - I'd better be careful though - I may end up helping someone
You are partly right though, there are some on here that I have absolutely no respect for at all and I make no apologies for my comments to them. Take rog2 as an example; he/she is upset because I corrected some scandalously stupid advice they were giving which could have had serious knock on effects for the OP - ever since then he/she and his comrade at arms mike SH have been on a mission to try and rubbish evreything I post. I actually feel very sorry for them, they carry a lot of bitterness and rage due to their circumstances and seem to want to blame everyone else for their own shortcomings.0 -

Just for you Tootsie "it was not my fault, it was someone elses fault" - and in this case it really was. Powergen are so cr*p that they kept trying to make me pay the gas bill for a house I used to own (the bill was for a year after I had sold it - even had the letter to prove they knew I had moved!).
They just would not believe I didn't owe the money. Ages after Powergen cleared the account they were still bugging me!
Excellent - I would never advise anyone to pay a debt that doesn't belong to you and advocate challenging this at every opportunity.0 -
Moorecroft are a bunch of immoral wannabe criminals IMO!
My sister used to work for first advice (the mortgage part of The Accident Group) and she was one of those people who got made redundant via a text message 4 years ago. At the same time she found out she had lost her job she started getting hassle from Moorecroft about a catalogue debt they had bought, she didn't know anything about it and told them she thought they had made a mistake, but obviously they weren't going to take that as an answer and continued to phone her constantly and refused to provide her with any proof that the debt was hers. It all got on top of her so she came to visit me for a few day and they continued to harass her on her mobile, so one day I spoke to them on her behalf. I explained the situation (again) explained that even if they could prove the debt was hers, because of the fact she had just lost her job with no notice and no pay that month (they lost their jobs on what should have been payday) she had no money to give them anyway. The person I was speaking to started screaming and shouting threats down the phone at me, telling me not to get clever with them because they knew where my sister lived and they could easily find out where I lived too!
I put the phone down, and about an hour later someone phone back, I answered and went through the whole rigmarole of explaining the situation again. The person I was speaking to asked how my sister had got to my house, I told them she had driven in the car that was her company car but that was being picked up by the receivers agents at the end of the week, so the moorcroft idiot told me to tell my sister that she should sell the car before it was picked up, report it stolen and use the money she got for it to pay them off!!!
I really really wish I had been recording that conversation.0 -
I too have had powergen chasing me for an electric bill that wasn't mine! i moved out of a house 2 years ago and I had a letter telling me I owed them £400 in electric when I wasn;t even living there. I sent them copies of bills ets showing I had moved and case closed. Then a year later they start chasing me again! This time I told them to !"£$ off and haven't heard from them since.
MBNA are pigs! My oh owed had a late payment on his virgin card - my fault put it hte notice board to post, but had baby so got forgot about. It was £6.50 short because they added a charge on and they phoned my oh at work - it was his day off so work phone us at home. MBNA then phone at home several times and women refuses to take a cheque in post - we need debit card right now. By now i'm in tears won't they leave us alone we said would post a cheque. Oh doesn't have a debit card so he uses mine women on phone says she needs to speak to me - fair enough but i'm feeding baby so don't have a free hand. Will she call back later - no. So ended up shouting at this lady he can use my card just !!!!!! and leave us alone.
I would hate to think what would happen if you owe the £1000's0 -

Perhaps you could write to Moorcroft and ask for the transcript of that conversation:rolleyes:
You are not alone in the opinion you give in your opening statement.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I know this is not the norm, but could I post a positive word about Fredrickson International who are dealing with our MBNA debt
they have been nothing but polite and understanding with our payments, they accepted the offer straight away and so far have had no problems with them, more than I can say about MBNA,who were the scum of the earth.Just want to say to anyone who is worried about a DCA taking over their debt, they are not ALL bad and sometimes it works out for the best
Debt at highest £102k
