We had an absolute cow (I'm being kind here) repeatedly ring from MBNA for my partner - unfortunately he is abroad almost constantly with work & I have to answer the phone.

She repeatedly referred to him as my husband (we're not, and have never been married, in spite of having the same surname...it's just a coincidence), shouted at me down the phone, reduced me to tears on several occasions and used to ring at least once in the afternoon and once late at night every day, blocking her number. Because he's away most of the time, I was always at home alone at night with our small daughter & was left shaking & absolutely beside myself.

I hadn't discovered this site back then and had no idea that even DCA's weren't allowed to harrass, thanks to a little enlightenment and a wonderfully helpful man on the Motley Fool board I reported her to the OFT and changed our phone number (best £25 I ever spent) - my bloke's now sorted out with a CCCS plan & the phone calls have finally stopped.

She was just a horrible, horrible individual, and I honestly don't know how people like her (or anyone who would tolerate and encourage that behaviour in an employee) can sleep at night.

    Lucy.

That is probably the nastiest thing I have ever read on this board, you really are a vile excuse for a human being.

    Hi Toto,

I have tried to follow the good advice from ZTD, but I simply have to say that I could not agree more with you. This 'person' has singlehandedly destroyed any shred of respect that anyone could have had for the way in which the financial industry deals with debt.
Even allowing for the fact that such a function has to be fulfilled, there can be absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the comments made by somebody who appears to relish in the misery and suffering of others less fortunate. Still, what goes around comes around - I just hope that, should the situation be reversed, this person comes up against someone with the same attitude problem that he/she has:mad:

A troll is someone who says something contentious/personal/hurtful etc in order to inflame emotions and start an argument. The goal of the troll is to have the non-trolls argue among themselves without further intervention.

Ignore trolls. Completely. It starves them of the oxygen of attention. Then they go somewhere else.

I hope I didn't upset anyone with my comment :o while I don't like or agree with TR's comments, sometimes some good comes from his/her input,it is difficult to understand their point of view because they are work for the other side, having had many creditors on the phone I can honestly say TR's attitude is typical,so why would we expect any different from them on here.I agree with many on here that what goes around comes around and one day he/she will get their come uppence ;)

It isn't that Tootsie's opinion differs from mine that bothers me. It isn't the fact that he/she is a debt collector. The problem I have is simply that this is a person who obviously comes here for no other reason than to enjoy watching others suffer. It's as if he/she needs to get a fix in order to make themselves feel superior.

I have read many of the past posts and I don't see anything much helpful, I see an I am right you are wrong attitude. There isn't an ounce of compassion understanding or empathy, in fact often (see the post above) it is downright spitefulness, just for the heck of it. And I am quite sure that is justified in his or her world because debtors aren't human are they? They are account numbers, it's perfectly ok to kick them because they have no rights anymore. It brings me in mind of the attitude the nazzis had as they shot and gassed millions of innocent people. It's just a great big game, but that's ok because as I have said, it's not as if we are dealing with people here... people with feelings.

Trouble is, if Tootsie shot us all, he would have no job to go to, wouldn't that be a shame.

A valid point - there are a few people who 'troll' this forum and make pointless posts in direct contradiction to the original aim of the thread (usually someone who is in genuine need of good advice and certainly does not need the kind of arrogant criticism that these people give).
I now see that this is a sign of their own insecurity - a bit like the playground bully.
Totally unnecessary, but difficult to ignore.
