Will just point out I didn't find these myself - thanks Shaz.

Thanks for those, will have a look through them to see what I can use.

  • I'm loving readung this thread, I'm planning to make things for a few people and need this christmas to be as cheap as possible

does anyone have any ideas for a boys hamper, ages 11 & 12, not really into much apart from expensive computer games!! I quite fancy the idea of putting together lots of little things for them but no idea where to start

what about a couple of cheat magazines?
If they have a Wii console poundland often sell official accesories for it, they have had the hero band guitar covers in our branch this month. They also sell PSP and DS accesories.
I think 'x boxes' play DVDs? if so you can get them in poundland

If they have a DS you can a set of 5 stylus pens for 99p (free post) on ebay - we have them and they are great!

You've gotta include a selection pack - I love chocolate so I just expect everyone else does!!

Do they support a football team as you could do one based around the team they support you can get a big mug and fill it with choccies or you could get a few bits from there favourite football team to make a hamper.

I have an idea for my cousins 7year old twin boys but need some input as running out of things to put in it.

They come from weathy family and have tonnes of toys so always struggle to buy for boys who appear to have everything

Anything else anyone suggest been a while since I read famous five used to love them too. All my mind can think of is they always ate potted ham and ginger beer.

saw a book on the b**k peoples website called RIPPING THINGS TO DO looks perfect for a retro/famous5 type hamper.

I have just bought mine of ebay from http://shop.ebay.co.uk/itsawrap0121/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

I will let you know when it arrives what it is like and how quick they deliver;)

jintyb Thanks for that idea was thinking the same about the ingrediants did see some nice aprons that were quite cheap whilst in town which set me of thinking recipe book, apron and a bottle of wine? what do you think ? I do like the idea of the specialty item though so will have to think long and hard on that one.

Thanks for the link re wrapping - good to know!
I think your idea sounds lovely. Re the specialty ingredient - you could make your own flavoured oils. You put olive oil in a nice bottle with dried chillis or you can do it with herbs and peppercorns( the coloured ones are nice). Add a hand written label and you're good to go! Also you could do flavoured vodka - see the first post on this thread for ideas.

you will always be rich enough to be generous.
  • Have had another idea but need a bit of guidance on this one!!! was thinking about a couple of kids baking "hampers" with a selection of sprinkles (have cellophane cones coming off ebay) and some cake mixes maybe in a nice bright mixing bowl with some wooden spoons. Possibly some aprons if I can get them cheap enough?? any ideas?

Do you think I could paint their names on the spoon handles? what type of paint to do u think I should use?

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

Do you have a Q D stores near you? they have a whole range of kids baking things from silicone moulds, mini cake tins, rolling pins, balloon whisk all for 99p or less they would make a great hamper.
It is a great idea I did think of doing DD1 a baking hamper especially after I went to QD.

I think it's a great idea, I used to bake alongside my mum when I was a child (in the old days before playstations and mobile phones !).

For the names on the wooden spoons, you might find it easier and more effective to use a craft pen rather like a "magic marker" but with a finer nib. You can get them in lovely colours, shimmery, glittery etc. If you have little girls you could draw little flowers and hearts as well. The only problem might be if the pens aren't waterproof though.

You could also make up some brightly coloured laminated recipe cards for things such as rice crispie cakes, simple biscuits etc

  • Been thinking along the lines of a 'movie night in' hamper for one of DH's pressies.

Currently doing valued opinions surveys for an Amazon voucher to buy a dvd, then I'm going to package it up with a bottle of beer, a pizza gift voucher and a tub of pick and mix - a present that I will benefit from aswell :j

Got another part of a present with yet another £5 boots No7 voucher, just need a small make up bag to go with the lipgloss and nail polish already purchased and thats one done!

Can't beleive I'm thinking about Christmas now...I suppose it will soon be upon us ;)
