Hi, wow you picked up some great bargains!! Sorry can't help on the converting clubcard points to deals as never done it myself. Sounds to me like Tom is just a very content baby - but I am no expert. My youngest was in SCBU for her first two weeks and was the same either asleep or being fed and actually she stayed like this for several weeks at home too. Now she manages a few awake stints which each last about two hours each day. Hope you are feeling ok x0

Hi Chocaholic.
Natasha slept constantly for the first few weeks - in fact I had to wake her up for feeds. I know people say never wake a baby to feed them, but a newborn can sometimes be too tired to feel the hunger pangs, and the lack of food makes them even more tired, so it can be a vicious circle. I was advised not to let her go any longer than 5 hours without a feed through the day (although I let her sleep a bit longer at night).
After a few weeks she started waking for feeds of her own accord, and she very, very slowly started to have more awake times during the day. She seems pretty normal now, although tends to still need quite a lot of sleep.
As long as she is feeding well, wetting a good few nappies a day, and putting on weight, just enjoy the sleepiness!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Thanks - that's a relief to know that other peoples' babies have been the same. The health visitor today recommended not letting him sleep more than 3 hours because of his size, plus when he was weighed he hasn't gained any weight since last weighed (although last time he'd just been fed and this time he'd gone a couple of hours) so I think I'm getting a bit paranoid.
The doctor's phoned today as well and said I need to pick up a new prescription as my blood test results aren't improving as well as they'd hoped :mad:0 -

Hi
I follow your thread and was so sorry to hear you had such a rough time but congratulations on your gorgeous baby!
Just wanted to say that my daughter's baby is 3 weeks old today. She is breastfeeding him and he has only just started staying awake for a while between feeds.
He also lost about 12oz during week 1, then put 13oz back on during week 2, and he was weighed today and he put 1lb on in the last week! I seem to remember DD1 putting 1lb a week on quite regularly but she was a greedy pig and it was 20 years ago!
Don't worry, I'm sure Tom will be fine. He is very little though being so early but the health visitor doesn't sound particularly worried, so I would try and relax and enjoy him. I really hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi chocaholic, im sure your bloods will sort them selves out soon. Well done on the tesco points abd the bargins. I cant believe how good your mindset is for MSE even at such a busy time.
I bet you would be a great foster parent, i really think children who come from circumstances that lead to fostering need experianced parents to support them. If i havnt been able to conceve by the time i am 30 we will be looking at adopting, ive got all the info and think i will do it even if i have biological children. I dont think i could foster if i dont have a biological child, i think that would just make it too hard when they go back home. Thanks. I think I am overly worried. You wouldn't think I'd ever had a baby before, would you? Tom has actually just had 30 minutes awake during which DD and I read him the book we read him in utero and I swear his eyes moved as we changed between our voices! Then we got him ready for bed, fed him and he's gone off to sleep again.
Been doing a count on baby toiletries. I wouldn't think we need to buy any for a while. We have loads of baby both, oil, shampoo, cotton wool etc and erm...28 packs of baby wipes (in my defence they were all bought BOGOF!!). Must resist the temptation to buy any more no matter how bargainous!
Plus, I got my payslip today and my pay has reduced by about £500:eek: a month - should be about this for the next two months as well then will be down to £112 a week    Plus OH will only get £112 for the next two weeks plus one week at holiday pay. We really need to cut back on unecessary buying. On the plus side the kids have loads of clothes (although I am practically walking round in rags, and I'm not joking, but there's no point buying anything while still carrying babyweight), we have stacks of toiletries for the whole family, the cupboards are really well stocked with staple items and we only need to put petrol in one car for the next few weeks so fingers crossed we'll get through without adding to debts. Please feel free to tell me off if i suggest buying anything unecessary!!! Also there is no council tax, water rates or Sky to pay in Feb or March, phew!!0 -

Hmmm... I think I've read this in here somewhere before...
Don't beat yourself up about worrying. Look what you've gone through over the last couple of weeks. Tom sounds lovely, you've paid an incredible amount of debt off and you've got enough toiletries to see you through a couple of wars... You're going to manage beautifully!
